Goals:
The main goals of the assignment was to introduce myself and articulate a challenge relating to one of the modes of written, oral, visual, electronic, or non-verbal communication.
Another goal of the assignment was to predict ways to overcome the challenges in the class using past experiences.
Argument/Purpose:
My purpose in the artifact was to show the audience that I anticipate challenges with oral communication, and I hope to strengthen the oral mode through practice.
I made the argument visible in my artifact by providing stories from my High School English class.
Audience:
The intended audience for my artifact was English 1101 classmates as well as Georgia Tech faculty members to inform them about my weakness in one of the modes
3.1 – Explain how people from different backgrounds may use and/or interpret communication methods in different ways.
To Curate my artifact the first thing I did was focus on the image of the Tim Hortons cup and the “double double”. However, I did not want to just focus on the “double double” itself I wanted to curate Tim Hortons image as whole. Which is why I chose to have images of inside Tim Hortons, while also showing the brown and “plain” aesthetic that Tim Hortons has. Also, I wanted to feature taste which is extremely hard to represent in a digital format. For that part of my exhibit I got some quotes on what people think Tim Hortons coffee tastes like.
3.1 – Explain how individuals from a different backgrounds may use communication methods in a different way
Communication and language needs and preferences include: the individual’s preferred spoken language and the use of signs; symbols; pictures; writing; objects of reference; communication passports; other non verbal forms of communication; human and technological aids to communication.

At certain times one must adopt their style of communication to meet individual needs and use various aids to help them embrace their communication.
Edmondson (2009) discusses four different basic communication styles. The first style is expressive which have a tendency to speak quickly, focus on the big picture, and have a high energy level. They can be perceived as unpredictable, vain, or excessively jovial. Next are systematic who tend to focus on small details, not on the larger picture, and try to avoid conflicts. The third type listed is sympathetic. These individuals focus on people and relationships. They are good listeners and so concern for everyone’s needs. Sympathetics also do not like be at odds with others. Lastly, the fourth communication style identified is directs who generally keep dialogue short and are perceived as a multitaskers. The study recommends that the individual discover her own communication style and adjust the style according to the situation.

Albert Einstein once said, “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” This quote describes the responsibilities and standards of teaching children. I believe that teachers should be held to high standards for being the foundation of a student’s education and well-being. For my future students, my responsibilities as a future educator include supplementing the growth of a variety of students’ knowledge and creativity, abiding as a role model for students and colleagues, and understanding the issues in the foundations of education.
There are times when we need to adapt our communication style to meeting the needs of individuals and use aids to help them enhance their communication.
This assignment will start by discussing two well-known theories known as ‘the cycle of communication’ by Michael Argyle and ‘the stages of communication’ by Bruce Tuckman. Firstly, it will look at Michael Argyle’s ‘The cycle of communication’.
Communication can be conveyed in a plethora of different ways, whether it is a debatable topic between individuals a group of individuals, a problem or issue discussed in a relationship, or every day conversation between friends.
