Having the choice of abortion is telling women that they do not have to be responsible for their actions. The woman knows that no matter if they took all the precautions to not become pregnant, there still are chances of it happening. Abortion is just an immoral way for women to coward away from responsibility. A Census Bureau study noticed “that women who have their first child out of wedlock get less education and are more likely to be unemployed and single - even many years later - compared with other women” (Harris). Women need to realize that they made the choice of bringing a baby into their lives even if they unknowingly did. The United States Supreme Court ratified the legalization of abortion in an effort to make the procedure safer; this was done through the Roe v Wade decision of 1973. In the United States more than a thousand abortions take place every day, and although legal, public opinion remains at a standstill as to whether or not abortion is ethical. In the midst of the controversy, two groups emerged. These two groups are referred to as pro-choice and pro-life. Pro-life supporters claim that the life of a baby begins at conception, therefore the act of abortion is equivalent to murder. Pro-choice supporters, on the other hand, believe that a woman has the right to choose what she does with her body. In the end, one must understand the implications of abortion in order to answer the question, is abortion ethically and legally moral?

(Wayne Wilkins) People believe that aborting a baby won’t harm or cause pain to the unborn fetus; it’s the destruction of a conception. The power to end one’s life should be in no one’s hands.

Abortion is the murderous slaughtering of an unborn child. Around one million abortion procedures occur every year; as a result, roughly one million innocent babies die every year. Those poor human beings never had a chance to walk for the first time, start preschool, graduate, or start a family; they were killed. Children are being murdered every single day, yet nobody stops this harsh act from happening. Abortion should be made illegal because it’s practically murder, opposes God’s word, and goes against the “unalienable rights to life” recognized by the Founding Fathers.

Would you want to bring a child up into this world that is not wanted? How would this make someone feel if they knew they weren't brought here for a purpose. That lingering guilt that you could have done better for this child. We should allow women to end a pregnancy before the child is born. The government should grant women the opportunity since raising a child is not easy, and they shouldn’t feel neglected, pregnancy should never be mandatory, and many aren’t mature enough and rely strictly on their parents for their every move. We should not bring children into this world who are not wanted. Everyone should feel loved, and apart of something much bigger than themselves.

With the method of abortion a mother does not learn how to love her own child, and a father does not have to take accountabilities for his whereabouts. They solely obtain the information on how to unravel their complications (McCuen 72). The homicide of an unborn child using outrageous procedures is ethically wrong.

Furthermore, speaking medically, abortion is completely and utterly humane, and safe. According to Willard Cates, researcher at the Family Health International (FHI 360) abortion mortality rates dropped by over 90 percent following the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Case in 1973. This case allowed women accessible, legal abortions as an alternative to what is known as “Alley Abortions”. 40 years later, abortion and the argument between life and choice is not as black and white as one may be lead to believe.
