The best way to respond to a conflict is having a positive attitude and persevere through the problem consequently the dispute could escalate and worsen the situation. As this piece of Literature unfolds, it describes the conditions of the Relocation Centers and gave first account descriptions in letter form. One letter recorded the statement “Upon my arrival to the Poston Relocation Center, I stood bewildered, glaring at the hot dusty desert, wondering how we could survive”(Oppenheim, 1), as this individual wrote their first experience at a Relocation Center the thought of hardships came into existence. Even though the conditions that were presented seemed unsurpassable, many of the Japanese persons fought with positivity and found ways to better the situation to an extent. They wore wet rags on their heads to keep cool and preserved many resources to live on. Another example of positivity is a comment made by one of the internees which declared, “"If American soldiers can endure hardships so can we! (Oppenheim, 28). This quote rang throughout the minds of all the Japanese held against their will in relocation centers and gave them a sense of
Can being optimistic improve someone’s health? Yes, that’s why the best way people can respond to conflict is by having a positive attitude. Having a bright outlook can not only improve a person’s health but it can save their life and possibly others, just like in Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl and Miss. Breed because these people inspired others and stayed optimistic.
Is it our similarities that matter most or is it our differences that matter most? It could be either of which we still not know about.
Jews have perished because of their beliefs since the beginning of time but never have so many Jews been persecuted worldwide as they were in World War II. Anne Frank’s diary reaches a place within all of our hearts because it reminds us how easily the innocents can suffer. Sometimes we may choose to close our eyes or look the other way when unjustifiable things happen in our society and Anne’s tale reminds us that ignorance, in part, claimed her life. Sadly, her story is but one of many of those who died in the Holocaust and as with other Jews, her fate was determined by the country she lived in, her sex and her age.
One thing they have in common is they are all where home schooled. They all believed in the star of David religion. They are all Jewish kids or teens living in the secret annex with other families. They all died differently. However, I think this is where the similarity between the three teenagers ends.
Research shows that positive thoughts can help you to build skills and make a real value in your life, while negative thoughts narrow your mind and you only focus on negative emotions. (Clear, How Positive Thinking Builds Your Skills, Boosts Your Health, and Improves Your Work, Paragraph 3 and Paragraph 13) But what would be the best response to conflict, a negative attitude or a positive attitude? We can look at people such as Louise Ogawa who was in Japanese internment camps in the United States also during World War II who both had a positive response to conflict. Anne Frank who was in the concentration camps in Germany during World War II is another great example of a positive response to conflict. After reading about these people and
The book diary of Anne Frank is about a teenage girl named Anne Frank. For Anne upcoming birthday she requests a diary so that she can express her thoughts, feelings, and emotions that occur day to day in her daily life. Her parents give it to her and she starts to log about her daily life and relationships with her friends and family. But what she doesn 't realize is her diary docs her horrible life that she has in hiding during the holocaust. Within this book report, the analysis of the book will be given along with the summary of the book by chapter.
The Holocaust was a tragic event in history where millions of Jews were sent to concentration and death camps to be killed. Though there was a lot of negativity in the world at this time some people still seemed to stay positive. One girl, Anne Frank said, “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” Despite of everything Anne still tried to stay positive even when they had to go into hiding. I would have to agree with Anne because of Mr. Frank’s actions especially when he put everyone else before himself. Although I could see where some people would disagree with me because of Mr. Dussel's actions in the play and how rude he was.
How would you act if you had to make a important decision or put in a tough situation? “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “Freedom Writers” share the life lesson of people have to choice to rise above their own suffering and to survive this harsh life. No matter what obstacle you have in your life you can overcome it. In both “Anne Frank” and “Freedom Writers” they no matter what type of conflict you’re in, you can overcome any obstacle.
World War II took away many things from people; loved ones, homes, personal possessions, from Anne Frank the war took away her childhood. When she was still a young girl she had to move to a completely different country. Annelies Marie Frank had been born in 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany into a jewish family. ( Anne Frank (1929- 1945) German diarist) Four short years later Hitler came into power and was after the jewish, because of this Anne and her family were forced to flee to Amsterdam leaving their home behind. Despite this Anne was able to find joy in simple things such as history, movie stars, even cats and dogs. (Van der Rol/ Verhoeven, page 28) She especially took to writing and one day hoped to become a writer. When Anne moved to Amsterdam she hoped to find a better life away from Hitler. Which she did for seven years, until the Nazis took over the Netherlands and started enforcing rules limiting the jews. In 1941 Anne and her older sister switched schools because they were no longer allowed at non-jewish schools. They were also forced to wear the yellow star of david on any of their clothes. The rules didn’t stop their: jews were banned from almost all forms of transportation, were only allowed to shop between certain hours and in certain stores, and they were given a strict curfew. (Van der Rol/ Verhoeven page 37) Unfortunately that was only the beginning for Anne, things became much worse for her. When she was only 13 years old Anne went into hiding in hopes of not
Do you ever get mad when your parents say you can’t do something or go anywhere? Well, imagine how Anne feels being isolated in that room all day long, every day. The story "Diary of Ann Frank" reveals what it’s like to transition from childhood to adulthood in the modern life. The theme of the story is living in oppression and how it affects Anne as a person, both physically and emotionally. For two years, Anne and her family along with another family are locked up in hiding in a secret loft. “The diary of Anne Frank” shows us that sometimes family is all we got but we have to make the best of it and be thankful we have our family. Anne Frank quoted “we all eat and read like one family” (page 230) This statement tells us that no matter what
When Anne Frank and her family had to go into hiding, her perspective had changed for her. In her words while she is in hiding, she says "in spite of everything, I still believed that people are really good at heart." So what I am going to be talking about today is that Anne still had some kindness in her, but she had to try to be kind, another thing is that if you stay optimistic life can go On to good things, and the last thing is that Anne Frank cares. All of the points that I was talking about all led back to the statement "people are still really good at heart."
Have you ever been shot at? Have you ever been in a war? Every single character in “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “Freedom Writers” could’ve been able to say yes to that question before they even entered high school. Anne, the girl who wrote in the diary, tried to survive the Holocaust. The kids from “Freedom Writers”, were literally fighting for their lives in the middle of a gang war. Being forced to grow up so fast like these kids had to cause different problems for each of them. However, “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “Freedom Writers” teach readers that to thrive in life you have to find a balance between humility and pride.
Nothing is more fatal to happiness then the remembrance of happiness (André Gide, The Immortalist). WWII was a very rough time for Jewish people especially in Nazi Germany. 11 million, Jewish people, gypsies, homosexuals, etc. died. Anne Frank, was a German-Jewish girl, that was born in Frankfurt Germany. Before the Nazis invaded, the Frank family soon moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The story of Anne Frank is probably one of the most recognized and well known in the world. The experiences she and her family suffered through as they hid from the Nazis during the Holocaust. Their story is well documented in Anne’s own words through her diary. She revealed the horror and difficulties her family faced as they hid in an attic (the annex) for two years from the Nazis. Somehow, despite starvation, hours of total silence, and being separated from the outside world, she maintained a belief that man was still capable of humanity. In her diary, she stated, “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” How is it possible for someone who endured what she endured to still have kindness, optimism, and hope?
When reading, “ The Diary of Anne Frank, “ by Frances Goodrich, watching, “ One Survivor Remembers, “ by Korg Antholis, and reading, “ Nazi Hunters, “ by Neal Bascomb, I noticed in both the books and the documentary, all the parents from the two books and the documentary, wanted their children to have absolute safety and comfort. The time where both books and the documentary take place between the time of, world war two, also known as the time between, September 1, 1939 – September 2, 1945. All parents wanted to keep their children safe during the war, so that the children can live their future lives in peace and start their own family. The determination of all the characters is expressed through their care for their children. In my first event, from, “ The Diary of Anne Frank, “ by Frances Goodrich, the families are sleeping and Mrs. Frank gets out of her bed to check up on the noise that she heard coming from the kitchen. When, Mrs. Frank arrives in the kitchen, she finds Mr. Vaan Daan, the husband of Mrs. Van Daan, and father to Peter Vaan Daan, who are living in the secret annex with the Franks, stealing food from the food safe. When, Mrs. Frank catches Mr. Vaan Daan stealing the food, everyone awakes from their sleep to go check on the yelling from the kitchen. After, arguing with Mr. Vaan Daan, Mrs. Frank decides the Vaan Daans must leave the annex. But, Mrs. Frank promised to keep all the children safe, including Peter Vaan Daan. ‘ He’ll stay of course, when I mean keep the children safe I mean Peter too, ‘ says Mrs. Frank (535). From reading the quote, I can infer Mrs. Frank wanted complete safe and security for the children, even if it means keeping Peter safe too. What I can infer from this quote is Mrs. Frank will not stop to keep the children safe. In my opinion, this shows courage because usually, Mrs. Frank is not as open during conversations or talking with other people. But, Mrs. Frank shows her full side when speaking in the argument, releasing her thoughts and opinions on the situation. For my second event, Gerda, a little girl, is living in Poland during the Nazi invasion of Poland. Gerda and her mother were discovered and had to be sent off to German Death Camps. A Nazi officer walks over
