In chapter two, which contain dates Thursday, July 9, 1942, through Thursday, November 9, 1942, Anne and her sister Margot are hurried too quickly begin packing for the time that they are spent in hiding. They bring little with them
On Anne Frank’s 13th birthday, she received a journal and immediately fell in love with it. Despite her loving family, numerous companions, and a throng of admirers, Anne felt that she has no true friends. Thus, Anne wanted “the diary to be my friend,” and named it Kitty. Anne dived into her journal by providing a brief description of her life, including the discriminatory behavior that Jews faced in Amsterdam. A month later, the Frank family was shocked when they received a call – up notice from the German SS for Margot (Anne’s older sister). Due to the call – up, the Frank family packed hurriedly and left a false note that they would be in Belgium. In actuality, they hid in a disused laboratory in Otto Frank’s (Anne’s father) office. Otto’s coworkers (Miep and Bep) were aware of the situation and provided food, clothing, and other necessities. Due to the increase in searches for Jews, Mr. Kugler, one of Otto’s colleagues, installed a bookcase at the entrance of the secret annex.
The Holocaust was a time of war where many families were separated from one another and many had died from this tragic event. Although, from the book “Diary of Anne Frank” a Jewish girl named Anne that had been affected by the Holocaust had said, “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” Even though Anne and her family faced many hardships during the Holocaust Anne still saw the good in it all, and after reading the book I have to agree with Anne’s quote. One of the main reasons of why I am siding with Anne is because of Peter’s actions throughout the book and how his actions rapidly changed once Anne showed kindness to him. However, I can see how some people may disagree with Anne’s quote throughout Mr. Van Daan’s horrible actions throughout the book.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play a game of hide and seek for years, and if you were discovered you were punished or even killed? Diary of a Young Girl is an important piece of history that gives readers a first person point of view based on a life of hiding during the holocaust. Anne Frank incorporates personal feelings to allow the reader to relate to her current situation in the story. Anne Frank’s life story has influenced the way the world views the holocaust today.
The “Diary of Anne Frank” was Diary based on true story back in the mid 1900’s. Anne Frank and her family go into hiding in early July 1942 after Margot Frank received a letter ordering her to report to a work camp in Germany. Anne Frank’s family went into hiding in an attic apartment behind Otto Frank’s business; it was located at Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. Anne Frank had a diary where she would write down everything that was happening during this time. Everything she felt she would write it down it was like her best friend .They were hiding from the Nazi’s. They couldn’t go outside to buy things or to do anything they needed to do because the Nazi’s were going to capture them or people were going to know where they were actually located.
The Frank family hid in this space, along with four other people, for two years. After the war, her father retrieved the diary Anne got it on her 13th birthday and wrote in throughout their stay in the secret annex. The diary was published as a book called The Diary of a Young Girl. The diary documented all the struggles and personal problems she
She wrote about her life in hiding, her feelings of loneliness and her frustrations. Even though she was writing about teenage issues, she displayed courage and maturity when she wrote about the war, humanity and herself. On August 4, 1944, after 25 months in hiding, Anne Frank and her family was discovered. The Frank sisters died of typhus in March
You can tell that Anne was very unhappy living in the rundown office building. She was crowded with all of the people living there, and they considered her “annoying”. Anne did not try to be annoying, but she was also one of the youngest in the building. She took lessons on reading and writing, and got better with writing in her diary. She named the Diary “Kitty” and kept it hidden from the rest of the people in the “Secret Annex”. She could only stand by while other Jews were taken and killed in concentration camps. She lived a very sad life in hiding before they were tipped off. (“Diary of”)
By June 12, 1942, Anne Frank had been alive for thirteen years; as a gift, she received a diary. Her thirteenth birthday present was used to record her thoughts and emotions built up over the two years that she and the others stayed hidden away in the secret annex after her sister, Margot Frank, was called to a German concentration camp. This, an excerpt from Anne Frank 's diary, displays the horror that was felt: “I was stunned. A call-up, everyone knows what that means. Visions of concentration camps and lonely cells raced through my head.” A normal teenage girl shouldn’t have to endure these types of things. It was courageous of Anne to even write in the diary. She is truthful about the horror of this historical event. She could have left out the gruesome details but if
Anne received her diary on her 13th birthday in 1942. She liked to call it "Kitty"("Anne Frank and other Jews"). She recorded her fears, hopes, experiences, and feelings in it during the war and in the years that they were hiding. Anne started writing her journal on June 14, 1942, two days after her birthday. She stopped writing in it on August 1, 1944(Frank and Pressler). She loved her diary, it was one of the few things that kept her sane during hiding and the war. She sadly had to leave it behind thought when she was sent to a concentration camp.
The Author came out with a strong out look on the situation of Anne Franks Development. Anne Frank was a little girl who lived in Amsterdam with her Father, they lived a normal life until the Holocaust took place and for forced Anne into hiding. Sadly the Nazis found out about the Franks hiding and who they were staying with, Otto Frank was they only one who survived. Anne Frank knew that she would even be living a sad and scary life. "Anne’s Voice. I expect I should be describing what it feels like to go into hiding. But I really don’t know yet myself. I only know it’s funny never to be able to go outdoors . .
The first part of the diary starts with her being a regular girl having fun and turns into a girl going into hiding with seven other people. In addition, she has to deal with relation problems with her mom, sister, and the people she is in hiding with. The problems begin when eight people are confined in a small area and everybody begins to irritate and annoy one another. Anne was especially concerned with herself and with her attitude towards the others in the group. She's mainly concerned with her mother who always treats her like baby. Mr. Frank tires to ease the quarrels between them by telling Anne to help out more around the house, but Anne stubbornly declines preferring to concentrate more on her studies. She especially gets plenty of confrontations with Mrs. Van Daan who thinks she is a spoiled little girl. Mrs. Van Daan constantly tells Anne’s father, “ If Anne were my daughter.” Anne’s respond to this in her diary was, “Thank heavens I’m not!” Of course
On July 5, 1942, Anne wrote in her diary: "A few days ago, as we were taking a stroll around our neighborhood square, Father began to talk about going into hiding. He sounded so serious that I felt scared. "Don't you worry," he said, "We'll take care of everything. Just enjoy your carefree life while you can." Anne continued, "That was it. Oh, may these somber words not come true for as long as possible" (Frank 11).
This literary work truly shows how Anne Frank was a martyr of racism and an insightful chronicler of her time period and place. The work also shows the typical adolescence of Anne Frank and her constant arguments with her mother in particular. It also deals with the day to day hiding she and her family went through. The only problem with the book is that the fact that Anne Frank rewrote her diary about two months before she was captured because she wanted her journal to be published after the war and she wanted to peruse a career in journalism. Therefore it is hard to tell what existed in her original copy and how much did she add afterwards.
Anne Frank, which is the main character of the diary, begins writing on Sunday, June 14, of 1942. The book begins by describing how Anne Frank received a diary as a birthday present. She was thirteen years old and was born on June 12, 1942. The diary was her favorite present and she named it “Kitty.” She would write in her diary on letter form and always addressed “Kitty.” She began writing at her home in Amsterdam, Holland. Way before this, her family lived in Germany and moved to Holland because they wanted to escape from the Nazi Party because they were making live tough for Jewish and Anne and her family were Jewish. But, it seemed like their fate did not wanted to change because the harsh acts towards the Jews were also apparent in Holland. On Saturday, June 20, of 1942, she wrote, “our lives were not without anxiety, since our relatives in Germany were suffering under Hitler’s anti-Jewish laws.” All Jews had to wear a yellow star on their clothes, buy at Jewish stores only, attend Jewish schools, and they were not allowed to own a car neither to ride one, among other many restrictions. (page 8). Anne had an older sister named Margot, who was called by the Nazis to eventually take her away to a “concentration camp.” The family had plans to move out to a safe place at some point, and this event was the perfect occasion to do so. So, they rushed and moved out earlier than what they had planned. On July 9, 1942, Anne and her family moved into the building where Anne’s
