Heroes are not always obvious; in fact, they may be completely unlikely, or the last ones that come to mind. R2D2, from the famous movie Star Wars, is a hero in many forms of the word. R2D2 may not be made up of the bright and shiny elements that make him a hero, but there are the underlying attributes that seem to be a bit neglected by society. R2D2 was always just part of the Star Wars episodes and never got enough praise for his actions, like Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia. “This hero is more reliable than any other. This hero is always clutch under pressure. This hero saves the lives of literally every other hero at one point or another. His name? R2-D2,” (Siewert). There was never a time when Artoo, as Luke would call him, was not around

These hero’s demonstrate many of the characteristics of a hero and they do so with dignity. A hero impacts all aspects of someone's life and leaves a positive impression, but there’s no limit to the amount of characteristics that could be used to define a hero.
“ The force will be with you, always.” This is advice given to Luke Skywalker by his mentor Obi Wan Kenobi. In the archetypal hero’s journey a wise and experienced mentor such as Obi Wan will often help guide or offer advice to the youthful and budding hero. Throughout time and across different cultures there are certain symbols, events and characters which can be found in literature and Star Wars IV: A New Hope follows this trend step by step. Luke starts from humble beginnings and when he is called upon to save the galaxy; he then faces various tests which help him hone skills that he will need for the final life or death battle.
A hero can be like Martin Luther King Jr, a person who fought for people's right. These kinds of heroes put others needs in front of their own needs so the end result will be for the greater good for everyone. These heroes stride for a better world so humankind can live in peace and harmony. They are self-sacrificing
Star Wars. Just the name itself holds an astonishing weight in the world of film, literature, and even video games and music. With so many works of varying fame and acclaim, almost no other piece of the Star Wars universe is more easily recognised than the 1980 film (the second in the original trilogy), “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back!” George Lucas, the mastermind behind the film itself, knew from the beginning that this film needed to drive his vision to the satisfying end that it deserved. This included using massive, beautiful set pieces such as Hoth, Cloud City, and Dagobah among others. With these basic introductory statements finished, a thesis is to be stated: How much was the story of Luke Skywalker, as well as the entire Star Wars universe, inspired by the Hero’s Journey formula?

When you think of a hero you probably think of a person who is greatly admired for
Beowulf; a man whose greatness begun when he saved an entire kingdom from the clutches of the vile monster Grendel. Beowulf was known for countlessly putting his body and his life on the line to save his people. His courage and determination is what kept his legacy alive for all of these years. Not only that, but the respect he had for the people around him made him a remembered warrior as well. That’s what I think makes a hero. Being determined to get a job done, having the courage to step in and complete that job, and having enough respect for your people to still obey their wishes despite your apparent fame. The hero I will be writing about is the fictional Marvel Comics character known as the Black Panther (real name T’Challa). He and Beowulf
The ideas presented in the Star Wars Documentary relate to my journey when it comes to the hero's journey, the good and evil choice, and the uncontrollable event that sets life in motion. For starters, the hero’s journey, which is based off mythology and history, represents the transition between one identity to another. For my life this is represented from when I was a little kid to now. Going from a child, who has fun and nothing else to worry about, to a teen in high school who has to worry about grades, relationships, and careers. Secondly, the good and evil choice is seen in my life, just not as literally as in Star Wars. My good and evil choice was made in middle school. I could have chosen to slack off, never do work, but I chose to
Star Wars, one of the most iconic space adventure series to ever grace this earth. It's major success made Hollywood millions and spawned many tv series and 8 movies as of writing this. Very quickly Star Wars became a household name. Despite it's popularity, Star Wars can fit into the hero’s journey theory and in this essay I will be covering three of categories of sort in the Force Awakens. These will be Answering the Call/ Talisman, Meeting with the Goddess and the Refusal of the Return. For the most part I will leave most of my opinions of the movie in the conclusion. So let's jump right in.
“A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead and overcomes anyway. ”-Christopher Reeve. What sets apart a man from a hero is the impact that they had on society whether it’s through science, philosophy, art etc. Only the most sensational of men can fulfill all these achievements and additional ones as well.
Anyone who influences anyone else by saving or helping save his or her lives can be a hero. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. changed the lives of millions of people by bringing justice to minorities. Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest heroes, led a nonviolent revolution to free his country. Even a parent can be a hero to his or her child by leading them in the right direction. All teachers are heroes when they make it their job to teach a child anything that will help them in life. You don’t have to go to great lengths by risking your life to make a difference in someone else’s life.
They don’t have to be any of those things. A hero is someone who sets out to make someone else’s life better, their purpose is to affect someone in a positive manner. After WWII there were many individuals whose acts of heroism were recognized. One of these heroes was Giorgio Perlasca. He saved the lives of many Jews by lying and stealing.
Another idea of a hero was when Gandhi had stood up for his country; India. “Gandhi led nationwide campaigns to ease poverty, expand women's rights, and build religious and ethnic amity” plus he had “spent a number of years in jail in both South Africa and India”. In other words Gandhi never gave up showing everyone how India should be independent. Gandhi had stood out his way by leading marches to declare independence. Gandhi had been admired for his bravery (when he was thrown in jail a few times), his confidence (he never showed any sign of weakness) and perseverance (he had never gave up).
When the word "hero" is spoken, everyone has different thoughts. Some will think of super powers like flying and saving people from villains; while others have a certain person they know or have heard of that come to mind who have done something to make a difference in the lives of others but who is a hero to you? To answer this question you must first ask yourself what a hero is; what comes to your mind when someone says the word. When I am confronted with these questions I always have the same thoughts; smart, strong will power, and someone who stands up for what they believe is right.
