Just Take Away Their Guns
In some U.S. City, guns violence has reached a level of civilian war in term of casualty and number of incidents that occur on daily basis. In his essay, James Q. Wilson argues that lawfully owned gun is likely to be used for self-defense purposes. On the other hand, he asserts that gun violence is attributed to illegally procured guns that circulate between criminals and gang members. In his approach to address the over- abundance of illegal guns, he suggested that police officers should conduct a frequent stop and frisk tactic to confiscate illegal firearms. Following the same line of thought, her recommended that police should g target this policing approach toward people on probation or parole because they more likely to commit a crime. In reality, the evidence furnished by James to support firearms ownership and his justification for gun violence are unsound. In this short essay, I will shed some light about the weakness of James’s arguments and provide realistic alternatives that will drastically reduce gun violence and shrink firearms ownership.
