Gun Control is a hot topic in the U.S. Politicians have been arguing about increasing and enforcing more Gun Control laws across the nation; however, America should not enact Gun Control laws. Enacting these laws will create more issues in America instead of solving the issue at hand. Guns are necessary for protection against tyranny and acts of violence. The total crime rate in America has gone down without the existence of Gun Control. Since 1789, Americans have had the right to “keep and bear arms.” The Second Amendment protects its citizens from infringement by the government. Without it Americans would have no defense from violent acts, nor would they have protection against tyranny. As history shows many dictators use Gun Control to gain power over countries. Adolf Hitler used Gun Control to his advantage by signing a …show more content…
Hence, many would believe that gun purchases would plummet; however, the opposite has occurred. Gun manufacture has risen around 40% since then. These correlations show that the access to guns do not contribute to the violence. Another scenario many pro-Gun Control advocates dismiss is how the crime guns are obtained. In a study conducted by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, data has shown around 79% of crime guns are obtained through friends/family or street/illegal sources; thus, if the criminals wanted to acquire firearms they will find a source. In the BJS’ survey only 8.3% of the offenders bought their guns from a retail store. The government can only prevent these delinquents from obtaining guns in registered sources like retail stores, pawn shops, flea markets, and Federal Firearm License (FFL) certified gun shows. The other option is to take away the 226 year old right to “bear arms” created by our Founding Fathers. Instead of taking away prerogatives of the United States civilians, the government should target illegal selling, purchasing, and trading of
United States is a country that has problems with gun control, and this issue has many debates between whether or not people should be allowed to carry a gun on them. This free county not only for speech and religion, but also allows people to have the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment of the United States was written by our Founding Fathers,“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed” (Government). The main purpose of the Second Amendment when our Founding Fathers wrote this amendment was to help the American citizens to defend themselves from the government at that time, and other countries from invading their properties. However,
Not only does the Second Amendment provide citizens with peace of mind that they can protect themselves against the authority, but it also allows citizens to protect themselves from fellow Americans, should the need arise. Firearms help to create a level playing field for all people, regardless of their age, size, gender, or even disability. Because we have the ability to carry arms, dangerous people no longer have the ability to pick and choose “easy” victims due to their lesser size or strength. No matter who you are, an added measure of security can make all the difference in a dangerous
The Second Amendment to the Constitution gave United States citizens the right to bear arms. Although, the Second Amendment stated: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms. However, the framers could not foresee the type of violence we have in our cities today. Innocent citizens have and are being brutally killed due to this amendment. Stricter gun control laws must be enacted to receive these types of weapons.
The second amendment allows just about anyone to have a gun. Now a days there are people who reveal all the time they want to kill someone or themselves and no precautions are taken.guns are in the wrong hands all the time and innocent people die everyday from a careless person with a gun. Guns cause collateral damage Adults give their children guns to scare off animals sometimes thinking they removed the bullets and giving their children to play with and they accidentally shot one another. Everyone wants to be able to walk down the street and not having the constant thought in there head that someone other than a police officer having a gun
The second amendment was likely created because while Britain had ruled America, there was a standing army in the colonies. The Americans no longer trusted standing armies. Instead, they had they had state militias that made up of volunteers. This is important because it helps insure that tyranny will not occur by spreading out the privilege of governing military forces to officials that are elected by the people. The second right protected in the second amendment is the right to bear arms. There is has been much debate over the meaning of this part of the amendment. While some people believe that owning guns protects the right to self-defense, others think that, unlike the time that this bill was passed, personal gun are not necessary to Americans’
The second amendment states that A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. The idea behind the second amendment was a simple one, if you take guns away from the people then if you have a dictator then you can protect yourself against them. If you look at history most major dictators have taken guns away from the people. This is why the second amendment was so important to our founding fathers, because it would make it so the government could become authoritarian on its people and turn the country into a police state. The words “shall not be infringed” are very important, it signifies that no one, not even the federal government has the right
Gun control is a very controversial topic that has has a huge impact on the United States of America. One side believes that if guns were taken away as a whole, the country would see significantly less gun related crimes and death, while the other opposing side thinks that taking away guns is not only against the Second Amendment but would lead to an increase in crime and death because the government would take guns away from people who are legally registered to own and conceal guns. The ongoing debate will continue until the foreseeable future but their are plenty of reasons why more gun laws should be made. Taking away guns is not the answer, learning how to deal with gun violence is the key.
The Second Amendment states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” (Webster 25). With that being a law this Amendment allows the government to let Americans purchase a gun without any care. Everybody is entitled to freedom but when it comes at the cost of people’s lives that when something needs to change.
Guns are not just for hunting deer, or even protecting yourself from a robber. We need guns because when a government gets too powerful one thing that they start to become is oppressive. This oppressive notion will cause the government subtract power from its people. One of those powers will be our guns. Throughout history, oppressive, powerful, and reigning parliaments, do not like for their people to be armed. Who's trying to whittle away, or make changes to the second amendment? Our government.
One of the amendments of the constitution is the right to bear arms. This allows many to protect themselves as well as defend against an abusive government. Many supporters of the second amendment believe that without the right to bear arms, the government would be free to control the
The second amendment gives America a military system to provide protection to all Americans and to act as the brother bear to all other countries, supporting them when they are in need. The second amendment also gives individuals the right to own a gun for security, a way of protection, defense, and safety. Therefore, if the second amendment guarantees these rights, why should the government have the authority to take those rights away? The second amendment clearly states, “shall not be infringed,” meaning no one can take away or violate these rights. Many Americans argue that further gun control in America will violate the words written by our forefathers. Gun control has been being a controversial topic for many years that people try to discuss about it. This issue has become more serious because of many recent tragedies have been happened in the US, and the main reason of those tragedies is lack of control. For example, tragedies in Newtown or Colorado, which everybody has known, took away many lives of innocent children and adults. That is why American citizens think that guns are dangerous and should be banned. However, there are some problem of banning guns brings more negatives than maintaining the status quo.
Gun control has become more of a hot topic in recent years. Some believe that there is no need for additional gun control. On the other hand, we have some that believe that the government can improve gun laws. Although many believe that gun control will violate their rights, the idea of stricter gun control laws can help communities.
The second amendment was written during a time when a gun was required by law to be in every household for the protection of the residents. Don B. Kates, a civil rights attorney and criminologist, writes in “Is Gun Ownership a Right” that almost all civilian males of military age had to appear with their own guns when called for militia training or service (13). In those days traveling a long distance was met with many perils, highway men, and dangerous animals to name but a few, a gun was needed to insure ones safety. Today it is considered foolish and unsafe to carry a gun, In fact anti-gun activists would have you believe that you are in more danger carrying a gun then not carrying one. Oppressive gun laws are making it difficult for honest law abiding citizens to obtain and carry firearms. While some laws are effective; such as not selling to convicted felons, others gun laws are doing more harm then good. The government needs to change or abolish certain gun laws.
