Every school system always makes a big deal over students using cellphones in class. We always see teachers on their cell phones during the school day and don’t get any repercussion. I agree that students should be allowed during class to have usage of their cell phones. Maybe the student was doing some work from another class that they missed or taking notes on something that’s important for the lesson they had from another class. School systems should ease up on how strict the policy is and allow students to use cell phones during the school day. Students could have ways to allow them to be interactive and participate on the lesson in class from their phones. Students can have different ways to research topics for a report or presentation that they were given. Students might have an emergency or no way to get home and need to call an adult to assist them. There are many ways that cell phones in school are beneficial but let’s sum it down to three reasons. First of all, most students have a phone and phone usage in class can allow students to be interactive and participate on the lesson. Teachers have many online sources to assist students in class and having those at students fingertips helps the students better understand the lesson. Teachers could use like a quiz game that can be accessed from the internet for each student to take like Kahoot, to help keep students interested. Most teachers want their students to be interested and paying attention and cell phone usage in class for the lesson can keep them on track. This is beneficial to have students interactive and participant in class, but students could be on different platforms instead of what they were told to be on. As teenagers, we are tempted at the first chance to get on our phones and get on social media. This is just how teenagers now are programmed to act nowadays. To prevent most of the students from getting off task or on social media, teachers could come around the class monitoring what the students are on. A second reason why this is beneficial, is that students can have different ways to research topics for a report or presentation that they were given. Sometimes the hardcover books aren’t enough of a reliable resource for students if
According to the article "Hang it up" by Jesse Scaccia, a former public school teacher, cell phones should not allow in school because the are a distraction for both students and teacher students using cell phones in class tend to have short attention spans and this could lead to doing poorly in their classes. In addition, cell phones are actually a status of symbol for many students, who seem to care more more about their social life rather than learning. On the other hand, parents and students advocate for cell phones in school for safety reason. Finally the author points out that parents needed to worry about other problems in their children schools not cell phones. I believe cell phone in schools should be use for an emergency situation however, using
What, you think using cellphones at school is a good idea. Now days cell phones have so many used apps and while student's are at school they are attempting to look on their phones. Everywhere you go in this present time all you see is toddlers on up to adults with phones because they are so addicted to technology. People would rater buy new phones that the company comes out with instead of buying things that they need because they think they can survive with a cell phone. Cell phones are very helpful but so many people have took advantage of that and have become so addicted to them. Now days in this particular time everything is at everyone's fingertips and they get what they want when they want it. When they ask someone for something they want or need that they can't get on a cell phone, they expect to get it right at that second that they ask for it. Using cell phones at school is a bad idea. School's should not allow student's to use their cell phones at school.
No, students should not have cell phones during class it disturb students, can't concentrate on work, and student don't do their work. They don't think about their work at all. They wouldn't even think about their work. To begin, the cellphone would disturb the student by going off in class. Their face would be in their phone. They always worry about their devices but, not their work. Student care about their phone they think they will pass with out no grades. In addition, the cellphone would not let them concentrate on work. They will be on their phone. They don't about anything but, their phone. They would be texting and on
One reason why students should be allowed to bring a cell phone to class is because cell phones can be used to contact emergency services in the case of an medical or law enforcement emergency. For example, if someone has a heart attack in a classroom where cell phones were allowed, then the classroom has multiple devices that can be used to contact medical personnel. On the other hand, if a medical emergency occurs in a classroom where cellphones are banned, then the number of ways to reach help is limited. Cell phones would also be useful in law enforcement situations. Students could use cell phones to communicate with police in real-time and videos can be used as evidence. Cell phones in classrooms are good because overall the more
“Cell phones are owned by 91% of American adults, and now they’re becoming a disruption” (Ballaro et al). Cell phones are now trying to get their way around schools. There is some controversy between school officials and children about bringing their phone to school or not. Parents are also a part of the debate. School officials are even becoming a little peevish when students have them out during class. No one has ever thought that this would have become a big issue with schools around the world. Schools have mandated a ban for no cell phones. Using cell phones now has brought on many more disadvantages than advantages. It’s superfluous that children should have cell phones in school. Children can take pictures when they’re not supposed to, can distract kids while they’re learning or from learning, and can make the school unsafe for everyone when there is an emergency while using cell phones in school.
Most schools do not allow the use of cell phones in school or in class, so the school feels like changing their policy of cell phone use might be a bad idea. Students could take advantage or miss use the privilege of phones in class. There will always be students who act out in class, but the school must discipline those who do and reward those who do not.
The use of cellphones in school allows students to have more freedom when learning. For example, in the article “As Schools Lift Bans on Cell Phones, Educators Weigh Pros and Cons”, it explains that some of the features a cell phone has allows you to interact with other people, which is good because it helps with social skills and makes it easier to make friends. If students are interacting with other students, it is beneficial to them because they will be paying attention to working with their partner rather than being bored and listening to just the teacher talk. It is important that teachers are involved with their students because an elementary school teacher in Minnesota stated, “We need to stop pushing against the technology and start embracing it. The more we push back, the more we separate ourselves from the students.” If teachers are involved with their students and don’t discourage cell phones, the students will actually have fun in class and will grow closer to their teachers. Cell phones are beneficial to schools because it provides a way where students don’t have to be distracted when there teacher is teaching them.
Hmm, phones in the classroom! What do you think? That is a debate between billions of people in the world today. Children all over the world have phones, but they can not have them out during school hours. Cell phones are important to so many kids and adults. These devices have been around for so long, and many people can not live without them. All around the school campus, students are miserable without their phones. In the world today, about three-fourths of the U.S. population have phones. A cell phone is an important thing to some people. Without cell phones, kids wouldn't have access to their social media accounts like Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. So take this into consideration, even if it is in one class, students should be allowed to get on their cell phones during school hours.
I’m going to be talking about why i think students should be allowed to have cell phone in class. Some people say that cell phones are a distraction but they should be allowed in school. I have very good points, evidence, and reasoning on why we should be able to have them. Some kids need to be in contact with their parents. Some parents text their kid everyday just checking on them and kids should be able to respond to their parent. Students would be less stressed out if they didn’t have to worry about a parent that might not come to the school and get there phone if kids were just able to have them out.
A teacher could just use an app to monitor the student’s screens at all times, or teachers can limit a student’s access to a app while connected to the schools internet. It's also true that some students don't have phones, but if they have something like a tablet or device that they could bring to school, they would be fine to not have a mobile phone.another concern is that students won't be able to communicate with peers in the classroom if they are doing this on devices such as a phone, you don't have to be because you can have a class blog talking about a subject in class, or they could discuss the topic in the classroom. this was an idea that “40 uses for smartphones in school” (Leyden)
Should teachers let students have their phone in class? Many don't, currently most teachers do not let students use their devices during class time. In addition Cell Phones have become increasingly popular. According to the Huffington post “Millions more will join the ranks of smartphone users in the years ahead, as the remainder of the 92 percent of American adults who own cell phones upgrade their devices” this article illustrates that many people own cell phones and many more will soon. And most teachers view them as a distraction to the learning environment. However that is incorrect, Cell phones should be allowed in class because they are educational, can be used as tools, and in that could improve their learning. The teachers should let students use their cellphones during class because they can use it for a resource, an emergency, and for overall happiness.
First and foreMost, distractions in class are the main reason phones shouldn't be allowed during class. In other words phones are used for more than just education when used in class. For example, if i'm told to get my phone out to look something up, i'm probably
Cirelli, Cheryl. “Pros of cell phones in school.” Retrieved from http://cellphones.Lovetoknow.co Cheryl Cirelli’s “Pros of cell phones in school” is an excellent resource for debating in favor of cellphones in school. It offers examples and evidence to the topic of cellphones in the classroom. Cirelli explains that cellphones are not only an instant form of communication, but also a learning aid. In addition, cellphones can be used as a collaboration tool for group projects. Overall, she supports the idea of cellphones at school and backs up her argument with evidence. The debate of cellphones at school is an extremely controversial issue. This article supports a specific side of the argument and helps dispute the issue.
Most schools around the country allow students to have cell phones for safety; however, most schools do not necessarily allow students to use mobile phones during class time according to “Do Cell Phones Belong in the Classroom” by Robert Earl, a partner in a strategic consulting firm in Arlington, Virginia, has served in the federal government, in the defense industry, and in the Marine Corps. He is a Naval Academy graduate and Rhodes Scholar and has spent many years observing public school classrooms. The article “Do Cell Phones Belong in the Classroom?” states that lack of preparation for a class has been just one negative consequence these cell phone users experience (Earl). Cell phones are known to be a distraction in all types of situations. For instance, after the teacher has given the lecture. Or has even started helping students. Sometimes even he or she will start writing on the board. Students see that as an opportunity to take their phones out and send an instant message to friends, watch a vine, listen to music, or tweet. After some time, the teacher will notice the usage of cell phones. By that time he or she gives out a warning about the use of cell phones, the phones will disappear with unwilling obedience until the next chance is presented. There needs to be more discipline in a classroom and students need to be inspired and motivated by wanting to learn. “ Percent of teens who take their cell phone to school, school policy, 2009” shows
Every teacher has a different policy on cell phone use in class. In past years, cell phones were essentially banned from classrooms while more recently teachers have been more lenient with their policy. Educational devices such as computers and online learning have been embraced by many school districts, while cell phones which offer the same effect on learning have been outlawed. Advancements in technology can provide students with a new learning tools where the learning tools will be used in the real world. Students who use cell phones to access research information are able to reach a wide variety of current information. Teachers are also able to teach students the proper way to use cell phones in a professional setting. Cell phones can also raise engagement levels in classes. In the article Cell Phones in the Classroom by George Engel and Tim Green, “There was an observable rise in class participation when cell phones were used in the class” (44). While cell phones were once considered a distraction, the way society uses cell phones has changed. Likewise, the purpose of cell phones has shifted from solely communication to a variety of benefits. Cell phones should be allowed in classrooms for educational uses because there are so many different ways to learn and study using them.
