Why cell phone use should be allowed Most schools do not allow the use of cell phones in school or in class, so the school feels like changing their policy of cell phone use might be a bad idea. Students could take advantage or miss use the privilege of phones in class. There will always be students who act out in class, but the school must discipline those who do and reward those who do not. Phones are easy to use and very accessible by both students and teachers. “Smartphones allow us to take down notes any time, any place.” “smartphones allows you to access resources and material quickly before an exam.” “not only can we make videos, but we can also edit them, add text, filters, effects and more.” This is true because smartphones really do work in a way that is helpful to students and teachers. This evidence is supporting it by just stating that there are many cool and useful ways to use them. …show more content…
With the statements given by my evidence, it is true that phones are useful and well used tools when students and teachers have the proper websites and apps to go to for specific things. This is good because the technology is so easy to use and is good at keeping track of things you need to do or have already done such as tests and/or quizzes. I understand that there may be the risk of cheating on quizzes or tests with using mobile phones, but if teachers monitor where the testing students go on the phones, cheaters can be caught and there will be
My first reason cell phones should be used in schools is because teachers can utilize the technology in classrooms. Sure, chromes are okay. But being able to do classwork on your cell phone makes learning so much more fun
Also, the sophomore Harshini Rampersaud says that “cell phones can definitely be used as an educational tool.” this statement is logical because there are many ways cell phones are fantastic learning tools. One way it can be a decent learning tool is that there are great apps that are only available for cell phones to download. For example,“Brain Tuner” and “Formulas” are apps only available on cell phones and are great for studying math. Also, cell phones are great for assignments outside of school. Many students can use their cell phones for their homework, studying, and checking emails put out by the teacher (or emailing the teacher) every day. In addition, a
Phones should not be allowed in school because they are distracting. Many students bring their phones to school for non-educational uses. They use them for social media and for games. A teacher, Becky Dieffenbach's, opinion is that bringing your own devices becomes a
The rewards from using cell phones can be great, but by using them we may not reach whatever goal we have set because they can hinder us from making it there. Cell phones being used as educational tools can be a helpful thing if we decide to take the necessary steps to ensure that students are doing what they are supposed to. Although cell phones can be used in ways to benefit us in the learning environment, they still play a major part in why they grades and test scores look the way do. This is exactly why cell phones shouldn’t be used as educational
Cellphones could be so much simpler at schools. There are an abundance of rules into play. Students get the device taken on a daily. Many teachers today would like the ban lifted so that the phone can be used as a teaching tool and not labeled as a distraction. (Rapp, David. “Lift the Cell Phone Ban.” Scholastic, Scholastic Administrator, 2008. Accessed 14 May 2017.) If a U.S law were passed, the ban would be lifted. School systems fail to realize that phones are more useful than the outdated books. When there are fewer resources in schools, there are more students needing to use the devices. Why not put the devices up for the test? Phones are here for a reason.
Using a cell phone in class makes it that much easier to cheat on a test. How easy it is for someone to just pull out his or her phone and Google an answer while the teacher isn’t looking. Also a student may be able to take a picture of their test or work if they have their cell phone on them, and then able to send it to other students. I think if a student is caught cheating then the teacher should have the right to take away the phone.
“Even when they have a computer or tablet at their fingertips, students prefer to use a mobile phone for projects, most adults wouldn 't undertake without a keyboard and mouse” (Wells D.1). Efforts to incorporate cell phone in the classroom is quickly gaining momentum (Compoy and Harte A.3). In a 2013 poll of 2600 schools, 10 percent of the schools were allowing to use mobile devices this is up from 3 percent in 2010 (Compoy and Harte A.3). Students of today seem more connected to their wireless devices. For many years teens have been using smartphones in various ways from tweeting to watching YouTube videos (Arnett p. 3). Cell phones can be an excellent learning tool that most students are already comfortable using. While some studies say that cellular phones harm students academically, using them in the classroom gives students 24/7 access to their assignments via various apps, the ability to complete them on the move along with allowing instructors to connect with students in a way students understand.
In most of my classes, we have assignments on our phones. We have things like Google Classroom, Kahoot, Quizlet, and our school website. All of these things have great resources for students to use. Even though phones can cause distractions
You’re not truly getting an education if you’re absorbed in your phone instead of your teacher. Students should not be allowed to have their phones on school grounds. Cell phones and other electronic devices are huge distraction. Students don’t know how to handle them responsibly and using them could lead to cyber-bullying.
First of all, Mobile phones are a learning tool. Beside teachers who are teaching students in classroom with math, science and
Are cells phones an important part of learning for students? Phones and/or other electronic device are things that people are overly devoted to. Students are the main ones who are reliable on their phone for information and trending topics. The reliability on phones for students is tremendous and creates ways for students to learn topics that are far from being leaned by teaching. Learning on a phone is an easy access although for some it is not when students do not have the possession of one. These devices are the main problem in school that provoke whether students should or shouldn't be allowed to use them in class. People strongly believe that phones should not be allowed in school while others presume that phones should be used. Phones can be beneficial when used in class to enhance the learning of students.
In today’s generation, more and more children are receiving cell phones before the age of 12. The use of cell phones in schools today are not just for texting and social media but as teaching aids. In the past there were not a vast amount of technology or cell phones but a lot has changed in the last 20 years. More and more classrooms today have many different forms of technology that is used to give students the best form of education. In schools, today there is access for many classrooms to have iPads, laptops, smartphones, and projectors in the classroom. The teachers are becoming more lenient toward the ideas of having technology within the class. The access to technology in the classrooms allows students to learn in many different ways. I believe that we as educators need to stop telling our students to put their phones away so much and allow them to use the item that their eyes are glued on to enhance their learning.
Cell phones have been a part of most lives for many years and can be very useful for education. Most cellular devices have some type of writing or studying app available for download. Even though parents may discourage them, they can help their kids more than they may believe. Most schools do not include these devices in their education program because of problems caused by them. However, they can offer apps that can be more lucid than a standard educator! Cell phones have expanded to become a pro education tool with many award-winning education apps that have expanded the world of education tremendously. Many of these tools are free and available to kids that cannot afford education, helping them expand their education. In many ways, cell phones can be educational.
Smartphones have been a big part of our lives for many years. Some of us had purchased one of the very first smartphones and continued to upgrade over time, and others were born into the world with smartphones being an everyday item. They have impacted our lives in many ways. We use them to learn new information, to keep in touch with family, to learn what’s going on in the world, or even just to escape from the world. But what new ways have we been using the smartphone instead of for entertainment? Some of the generations after us are raised with smartphones and they know them like the back of their hand. Many people have been thinking that maybe they’ll have a bigger advantage if they used their smartphones during school, and there are a select group of people that think that kids are addicted to their phones and should have less time with them. Many schools still don’t allow their students to bring electronic devices to their classes but there are some that like to use smartphones as a study tool so that the students interact and understand the lesson more. Education systems are slowly but surely changing their way and adding smartphones to their daily lessons to help improve students’ academic life.
First, cell phones are great tools to use at school for educational purposes. Most kids in school own a cell phone. So, teachers can have the students use their phones instead of transporting classes to the computer lab and avoid having to waste time logging into the desktops. In addition, the students can download Google Docs for free sign in and/or create a g-mail account onto the smartphones. This way, when the teacher wants students to type a paper the
