Walking across the stage dressed in my cap and gown, and receiving my Bachelors
Degree was one of the proudest moments I have experienced in my 32 years! Though obtaining a college degree is an enormous accomplishment for anyone, I feel the struggles I endured along the way made my success even greater! Looking back, I realized the life struggles I weathered only made the college struggles easier to overcome.
I was a single mom with three amazing children and had a full-time career. Fitting college into my schedule seemed nearly impossible. Fortunately, I knew it was necessary if I wanted to be an example to my children. My goal was to achieve my degree while teaching my children that a college education is not only obtainable but necessary

I graduated from high school, was married, and had three children before I was 24 years old.
I wanted to break the cycle with my children. I did not want my children following in my footsteps. I felt I could not preach to my children unless I did what I expected them to do. I wanted to show them two perspectives of my struggles. I wanted them to see their mom work hard to achieve a goal without giving up. I also wanted them to see the extra struggles I encountered because of not being a traditional college student straight out of high school.
OBTAINING MY MBA 3
I could see my children's faces light up with pride during my graduation ceremony. They knew they were the rocks that motivated me through school. After all, I began that journey for them! Upon completion of my Bachelors Degree, I started to realize knowledge was not the only thing I gained from earning a degree. There were many benefits of receiving my degree.
I received a promotion at work with an increase in pay. I gained respect from co-workers, peers, family, and friends. I felt confident and proud! Through all of the late nights studying, hundreds of essays, exams, team presentations, and research papers, the thing that has stuck with me the most is
The first day of school, I was nervous and thought over and over again about my decision to obtain my degree in this field. I tried to talk myself out of it because I felt like no one was supporting my decision but I was determined to prove to everyone that this is my passion! Even though I was nervous, I had to remind myself that I was going to achieve and not give up on my dreams. As I was looking around, I noticed different types of students that were in the class with me and it made me feel better because I realized that I was not alone.
I'm on maternity leave these days, and the graduation ceremony will take place in two weeks, in which I will receive a diploma authorizing that I have a BA in special education for pre-school. I am both excited and expecting it.

Overcoming obstacles will always be something that a person will experience. So far on my journey I've had a bump in the road with financial aid. However, that will not discourage me or prevent me from obtaining my college degree, when there's a will there's a way.
As a young girl, the idea of college was a distant dream that I knew was important. I was told every day for the past 12 years of my life that college is the threshold to a better life because with a college degree you can accomplish so much more. Now, as a high school graduate, College and everything that comes with it is my reality. From applying to accepting an offer to orientation and financial obligations is all too real. I am just starting to realize how difficult college is.

Learning has always been my passion. When I was younger, I would spend hours pouring over dictionary pages, trying to decrypt the hidden messages of jumbled up symbols. I would take a book and invent stories to go along with the pictures. Nothing ever stopped me from trying to understand things. When I turned 4, my dad finally taught me to read. We would sit on the couch, me sounding out each word and my dad correcting me after each mispronunciation. The experience was enthralling. Ever since that moment, I have been passionate about learning. When given the opportunity to learn, I seize it. In this way, I identify most with the Scholarship aspect of the Nation Honors Society. Education has never been the means to gain a degree, but rather the means to expand my knowledge.
Since moving to the United States, a land of opportunity, I followed the immigrant tradition of working hard to pursue my passion/ambition to study and get my degree. I started attending community college a year after I came to the United states. I spent three years at Northern Virginia Community College and transferred to the university of Virginia to earn a B.A degree. I have always kept a full-time job while attending community college to cover my living expenses and help my parents back home Throughout my journey of achieving a higher degree, I learned how to work hard and how to overcome challenges in my own personal and academic life. Now I am very confident in achieving my goals.
As far as I could remember, I have always appreciated by education and wanted to thrive with it. When i was 8 I had the great idea of becoming a mechanical engineer at northwestern.

Throughout my education, I had so many challenges I had to overcome. Dealing with school, personal life, and sports. Dealing with all of these problems has shaped me up as a person.
