One of my leadership strengths is encouraging personal growth and I lead by example
(Focht, 2015). In a previous role I held, I had three direct reports. Each were at different stages in their career and each had different goals. One individual, like me, juggled work with going back to school. Because I knew, firsthand, how important a degree was, I encouraged him to continue with his education, even though he was starting a brand new and very demanding job. Together we worked out a schedule that worked for both the company and his classes. He was able to complete his degree program while also launching multiple products, on time, without sacrificing quality on either fronts.
Another strength of mine is establishing trust and building relationships.
StrengthsFinder 2.0, written by Tom Rath, was a book I chose for a purpose. Rath mentions that when we live within our shortcomings/ our weaknesses, we tend to live in this world unhappy and unmotivated (Rath, 2007). In this paper, I will discuss some background and major topics presented in his book. I will describe how his topics can be useful in nursing practice, as well as my own practice. I will end this paper with a look into how his book helped me to grow in my own soon-to-be leadership role.
Every person has some kind of good and evil traits within their personality, but what really defines good and evil? People from different cultures could consider different traits to be “good” or “evil” or even a little of both. There are times in life where a person has to make certain choices that could be interoperated both ways. In this paper, I will be analyzing different characters in the story “The Good Women of Suzutan” and what type of role each personality plays within the story in order to give the audience a chance to come up with their own ending.
Leadership theories in and of themselves carry negative and positives characteristics. Within the various theories lie strengths and weaknesses that when applied to complex problems can highlight each one respectively. As I examine a few theories, I will look at the strengths and weaknesses of each and determine when and with which situation would these theories best be utilized. Collective leadership or distributive leadership, and leader-member exchange are both theories that incorporate specific team or group mentalities.
Leadership is an important outcome of the doctor of nursing practice (DNP) program (Zaccagnini & White, 2014). Measurement tools are available that identify leadership style (Clark, 2010) and personal talents, called Signature Themes (Gallup, Inc., 2010). When leadership style and personal strengths are identified, they can be maximized to achieve success (Clark, 2010; Gallup, Inc., 2010). This paper provides both a framework about the importance of leadership in the DNP curriculum and several examples of how I will use my leadership style and Signature Themes to succeed in the DNP program.
Leadership perspectives are very important when making decisions and strategies. A leader that only sees information on one side does not have the grasp on a situation. A leadership perspective such as understanding that there are more than one way to see things and it does not have to be what you see is what you get as a leader. When a leader uses their surrounding and employees the perspective may change and rather than seeing one side they see a variety.
Goal Two: Find staff who are providing exceptional care to patients and publicly recognizing one person per week by placing a note on the staff bulletin board stating who was “Caught Being AWESOME!”.
Forms of Government in Ancient Greek City-states Written Assignment Unit 2 HIST 1421 Greek and Roman Civilization University of the People The small towns that made up the ancient Greek city-states are remembered for many things including philosophy, poetry, gymnastics, Olympic Games, rhetoric (public speaking) and different forms of government. They are also known for internecine wars as people of high social status in each town displayed uncommon patriotism and loyalty to one another in order to protect their wealth and social status. In order to maintain their grip on power and thus protect their wealth, the elite worked against the unity of the ancient Greek city states. They came up with different political arrangements, including monarchy, oligarchy, aristocracy and democracy. The motley towns that made up the ancient Greek city-states present an interesting opportunity for a comparative study of different forms of government.
The basic premise for leadership is the process of influencing other people to follow your lead in order to accomplish a goal. It is about the relationship between the leader and the followers. A good leader tries to motivate people to bring about positive changes revealing a common objective without using coercion or manipulation. Leadership is not about control, but permitting interaction and communication between the leader and the individual followers. With empowering others, leaders build a foundation of collaborative thinking and encourage an atmosphere of personal involvement; a leader can strengthen the respect and loyalty of his or her followers. Leaders can affect this process by applying their own personal characteristics, such
In chapter two of the textbook, Introduction to Leadership, I was introduced to leadership traits, and asked to identify my specific traits and determine my leadership strengths and leadership weaknesses. There is an extensive list of traits which contribute to the leadership process and effectiveness of the leaders, however, six are considered to be key traits: intelligence, confidence, charisma, determination, sociability, and integrity. (Northouse, 2015) Of these six traits, I consider intelligence, charisma, determination, sociability, and integrity to be my strongest, and while I am very confident, I tend to question myself occasionally. Therefore, I would consider confidence to be my weakest trait on the list.
Science is a measurement of true knowledge to the world and for some is a bragging front to show the amount of intelligence and power some countries have. Through certain aspects of science, countries can demonstrate any amount of dominance they have by demonstrating new technologies and theories. Fusion and Fission is one of the great explorations that man has discovered due to the benefits it brings to human life. The promise of fusion is enormous due to how big of an energy system it gives and it comes together by fuel that is obtained by seawater and is also mixed with lithium from the earth’s crust. Most people get Fission and Fusion confused and they figure that it is the same thing.
When taking the two leadership surveys, it was interesting to see my personal leadership profile. My leadership style according to the survey is the instructional type, which in another world is direct leadership. My culture, upbringing, and work environment have transformed me to be direct leaders that are looking for stability. My staff members sadly do not have the opportunity to have a job that is autonomy; working in a manufacturing occupation, one has an organize agenda that cannot be deviated from the task ahead. When team members are needing help or trying to build the familiarity to run their equipment my personal leadership profile can be helpful, since being direct is a starting point to build knowledge. The more one individual shows knowledge, familiar, and passionate for their own results, the further laissez-faire I will become when proving they
The death penalty has been the source of taking people's lives by a lethal injection, so the executor wouldn't get blood on his or her hands. This is what I consider the easy way out of a violent crime, like murder cases. I see the death penalty as an injustice to the victim's family because the offender is being killed off without having to suffer the consequences of his actions.

a university where i knew my education will be the most important. Finally i had passed
A third strength of my leadership style is that it promotes a good relationship and sense of loyalty among my followers. This is a benefit to me and the organizations that I lead, because it leads to more productive followers. The people that I work with and who work for me want to succeed in part because they want me to be successful, and do not want to disappoint me. This sense of loyalty has helped immensely when dealing with students who I have connected with by making sure that they know that I do whatever I can to help them succeed. I am often able to appeal to these students to work harder by making clear to them that completing work on time and in good quality is important to me. The students respond by trying to meet or exceed their goals to avoid disappointing me.
