As a tax-paying citizen, I would like to bring to your attention my unease concerning the subject of abortion. My name is Savannah Canady, and I am writing this letter to ask that you vote in favor of the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2015.” While I do not believe that abortion is right, I mostly agree with the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2015.” In this bill, it is clearly stated that taxpayers’ money will not be used to fund abortions anymore, but that is not stopping anyone from having the procedure performed. An individual may choose to pay for the abortion themselves, or they are able to purchase a separate insurance specifically for abortions,
Bill H.R.3134 Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015 was introduced by Rep. Diane Black (R-TN-6) in the House. This bill calls to call to prohibit for a year the availability of federal funds for Planned Parenthood, and it was passed in the House, but failed to do so in the Senate. Remarkably, Steve King (R-IA-4) voted present, and Charlie Dent (R-PA-15), Robert Dold (R-IL10), and Richard Hanna (R-NY-22), all Republicans voted against the bill. On the other hand, only 2 members of the Democratic party, voted in favor of the bill, these congressmen are Daniel Lipinski (D-IL-3) and Collin Peterson (D-MN-7). Contrastingly, the identical bill, S.1836, in the senate introduced by Senator Lankford James (R-OK) failed to pass. Despite its failure, it was cosponsored by 4 Republican senators, these are James Inhofe (R-OK), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Ben Sasse (R-NE), and Jeff Sessions (R-AL). Throughout this essay, I will be explaining the bill and its legislative history, as well as bringing to light the different interests at stake in this process.

The United States Government should fund women's health care programs which supports reproductive health, safety against unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, and if needed, abortions. More and more facilities such as Planned Parenthood, those who help women looking for abortions, are being shut down because of lack of funds. Melissa Reed, president & CEO of Planned Parenthood Keystone, said March 13 that the life terminating business “has made the difficult strategic decision to consolidate health services by closing two centers located in Easton and Bristol to reduce the costs of duplication associated with running two sites in close proximity to others.”(life site) The government should fund abortions because if a woman wants to do it then she should have the right. They can't control other people's bodies.
H.R.7 No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017 is a proposed legislation that would put the Hyde Amendment into permanent affect (govtrack2017). This would ban all federal funds and all federally funded health care coverages from paying for elective abortions (congress2017). The only time the coverage of an abortion would be covered is if the mother was raped, incest had occurred, or the mother’s life was at risk (Congress2017). This legislation would also make it illegal for someone to get an abortion by a federal employee or at a federal clinic (govtrack2017). Despite the abortion taking place, whether it was legal or illegal, insurance would cover any complications (policy.house). The No
The ability for women from all walks of life to have access to affordable and safe healthcare including abortion is something I’m passionate about. It is appalling to me as both a woman and as a citizen of the United States that women have had their reproductive choices made for them or extremely limited by legislatures, especially when these decisions seem to come from a place of ignorance. It’s been incredibly disheartening to watch the reproductive rights of women within the United States be chipped away and restricted over the past decade by state and federal legislatures.
I am a registered nurse and one of your constituents. I urge you to vote in favor of No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2015 (S.582) (Congress.gov.n.d.). This legislation will prohibit the use of federal findings for abortion.
Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, over 58 million babies have been terminated. This number will only continue to grow. Abortion is one of the most controversial topics out there. Two people come into play, pro-life and pro-choice supporters. If someone is pro-life, they don’t agree with abortions. However, if someone is pro-choice, they like the idea of a women being able to choose. These two people are like oil and water; they don’t mix well. Abortions should be illegal in the United States because innocent babies are being killed, babies are individuals, and babies should have rights to their own bodies.
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is 100% wrong and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; “The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth.” These pro-life believers do not support the idea of abortion and believe it should be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staff. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every year because of unsafe abortions. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro-life is contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro-choice.
In 2010, President Barack Obama signed an executive order to enforce that federal loans would not be used in abortion services (“Background: “Should” 4). The pros and consist of the choice being available to women when they need it and the cons consist of safety concerns for the living fetus. As a nation, Abortion needs to be made illegal because life begins at conception because abortion is unsafe, a waste of money, a loss of opportunity, and a toll of psychological pain.
In the past few decades, the issue of abortion rights has created debates and controversy within the United States. Those who criticize the act of abortion – pro-life – argue that the act of abortion is equivalent to the murder of a baby. Those who support the legalization of abortion – pro-choice – argues women should be able to choose whether or not they want to have an abortion. Currently, abortion is legal in all states – a result of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe vs. Wade. However, it has become increasingly common for states to create anti-abortion laws, which makes it more difficult to have an abortion. In 2014, Missouri state representative Rick Brattin proposed H.B.131, a house bill that would require women to receive a written consent from the biological father in order to have an abortion. This bill serves to prevent women from having an abortion.
At 13 weeks into her pregnancy, 29-year-old Jessica Smith lost her 5th baby, lifesitenews states. “I expected to be handed a blob that early into pregnancy. But instead, I was handed a perfectly formed tiny baby. He had perfectly formed fingers and toes. He had tiny, completely identifiable ears, nose, and mouth,” Jessica Smith told lifesitenews. According to Procon, abortion is one of the most debated topics in the United States (Procon). Planned Parenthood states, there are two different ways a woman can undergo an abortion, the abortion pill, or an in-clinic abortion. The pill only works up to ten weeks into a pregnancy. The doctor will give a woman her first pill in the clinic, and anywhere from six to 48 hours later, a woman can take the second one at home. There are two different types of in-clinical abortions. A suction abortion is used for a pregnancy anywhere between ten and 16 weeks. It uses suction to empty the uterus. Dilation and evacuation is used for a pregnancy anytime after 16 weeks and involves suction, and medical tools to empty a woman’s uterus (Planned Parenthood). Abortion results in terminating an unwanted pregnancy and should be illegal worldwide.
Specific Purpose: I want to argue that abortions is wrong and as humans it is our duty to stop it.

The issue of abortion is notoriously controversial. Since the Supreme Court’s 1992 ruling in Casey v. Planned Parenthood, states have enacted different restrictions on the procedure. These restrictions vary from state to state. Nineteen states currently have laws prohibiting partial-birth abortion, and forty-one states strictly prohibit abortions except in cases of life-endangerment. One particularly incendiary area of abortion law is that of public funding. However, as of this year there are only seventeen states that cover abortion procedures through public funding. In this paper we will discuss federal abortion legislation, while describing the laws and political ideologies of the following states: Texas, California, New
I am writing to express my concern over the abortion issue, I’m a 21 year old college student and I became interested in this topic because many of my friends, classmate, and my family have many conversations about abortion. While attending a political science class, me and some of my fellow classmate had to debate on whether we disagree or agree with abortion. Having this debate made me even more interest in the topic and in my opinion I feel that people should be more aware of the pros and cons of abortion. A lot of people just based their opinion on their personal experience and personal moral, but not based on facts. Some people only know common knowledge about abortion, but not really inform about
