A little bit about Harry Truman
President Truman was born in Missouri on May 8th, 1884 and died on December 26, 1972 at age 88. He was named after his uncle Harrison. Mr. Thurman grew up in Missouri on a farm and his three main interests as a kid were reading, music and history. He is one of the few presidents to get a high school degree. After graduating from high school he worked on the Santa Fe Railroad sleeping in "hobo camps". Later in 1906, he went back to his Grandview farm until 1917. Harry later fulfills his childhood dream which was to join the United States military acadamy.

Before Mr. Truman became president, he was a major and a colonel in the Missouri national guard, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Army reserve. Although, his military career didn't come easy due to his bad eyesight. The first time that Harry tried to join the the academy of the United States military he was turned down. He attempted the second time and passed by secretly memorizing the eye chart. He fought during WWI in France as an artillery officer. When they were surprised attacked by the Germans and the soldiers began to flee, as commander for the French, Truman encouraged them to stay and fight. The soldiers were so surprised to hear him use such language that they immediately obeyed him.

Born on October 14, 1890 in Denison, Texas was our 34th President (Dwight Eisenhower). Dwight was very into sports when growing up, and in high school he excelled so fast in sports he received an appointment to West Point. When he received his appointment from West Point he had to take a test to get in, only one person could get in at a time, the person who scores the highest on the test of course got in. Dwight scored second highest on the test, but got into West Point, because the guy who scored the highest score failed his physical. Eisenhower entered the Military academy in 1911 and graduated in 1915.
Before he was President, Harry S. Truman was a State Senator. Then he became the Governor of Missouri and was later selected by President Roosevelt to be his Vice President. Truman did not know anything about what was going on as far as his role was concerned, because he had not been in office that long. But he was apparently a fast learner. However, he was out of office when Dwight D. Eisenhower was sworn in as our 34th President in 1952.

Well he was homeschooled it gave him an opportunity to care for animals witch this became one of his many passions. In his teens, he grew to enjoy boxing and weightlifting, like most teenage boys at that age.

Harry Truman's mother and father were unable to decide on his middle name: the two names considered where first name of Mattie's father, Solomon, and the first name of John's father, Shipp. Following a practice not uncommon among those of Scotch-Irish ancestry, Mattie and John Truman gave their son the one letter middle name of "S". Harry's early years were spent on Mattie's father's farm, and "Grandpa Young" adored the boy. No doubt Grandpa Young's fondness of the child contributed to the contentment he enjoyed during his boyhood, the carefree circumstances that led Truman in his later years to become fond of saying he had the happiest childhood imaginable.

He then enlisted in the Union Army during the Civil War in 1861 and earned the rank of Brevet Major of Volunteers (1). After the Civil War he returned home, started studying law, and eventually moved to Canton, Ohio to open his own law firm (1). Very soon after he moved to Canton, he married Ida Saxton, the daughter of a local banker (1). McKinley then entered Ohio politics in 1869 where he quickly rose through the ranks as a Republican ultimately becoming the twenty-fifth president of the United States (1).

Nixon had several honorable mentions and two service stars(“Richard Nixon Biography”, 2016). He gradually became lieutenant commander (“Richard Nixon Biography”, 2016). In January, 1946 he resigned from the Navy (“Richard Nixon Biography”, 2016).

Due to his continuing battle with health issues, which started at birth, Roosevelt was homeschooled along with his siblings. The family house also had a gymnasium where he lifted weights and boxed to help him gain strength. Despite what appeared to be a sickly and weak child, Roosevelt went on to accomplish many great things scholastically, physically and politically. He graduated from Harvard University, published several books, won many awards, and left a lasting impression in the military as well as during his presidency.
Over seventy years ago, one may have thought that one of most courageous, hard-working, honest, and loyal men was sworn into office as the President of the United States. Harry S. Truman was considered “One Tough Son –of-a-Bitch” due to his expertise, not because of his ordinary, basic look or lack of college education. No matter how people perceived him, Truman had industrial-strength; he stood his ground on his beliefs. His life would take him one of the most elaborate rides one could experience. Truman’s formative years taught him endurance, his life in the war taught him courage, and presidency taught him resilience.
