Concept explainers
To write:
The differences between the given terms.
Introduction:
Chemistry is the study of matter − its composition and properties. Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. All of the organisms that we study in biology are made up of matter. Matter is composed of tiny particles called atoms.
Explanation of Solution
Elements are simple which are made up of only one type of atom. They are the species of atoms having the same number of protons in their atomic nuclei. They can either have same number or different number of neutrons. Whereas, isotopes are elements with various masses. They are different types of atoms of the same chemical element and have different numbers of neutrons.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the terms given are, generally different based on the definition and number of neutrons.
