To write:
What the species called that are found only in one geographic location.
Introduction:
Biodiversity is known as the variety of life in a location which is determined by the number of various species in that location. But, many species lost their habitat due to some factors. These factors may effects the biodiversity. There are several ways that species can lose their habitats. Some factors of species extinction are - overexploitation, disruption of habitat, destruction of habitat, fragmentation, pollution, acid precipitation, eutrophication, etc.
Explanation of Solution
The species that are found only in one specific geographic location is called endemic species. Conservation biologists have identified some areas in the world that are characterized by critical levels of loss of habitat and exceptional levels of endemic species. These areas are known as hot spots. To be called a hot spot, a region or area must two criteria. First, there must be at least fiften hundred species of vascular plants that are endemic, and second, the region must have lost at least 70 percent of its original habitats.
Thus, the endemic species are those plant and animal species that are found only in one geographical area. They may be endemic to a particular continent or a part of a continent.
