Due to the Americans with Disabilities Act being passed recently, there are many improvements that need to be made concerning social policy and individuals with developmental disabilities. A best practice for practitioners working with this target population would be a person centered approach. Falon et al conclude, “The aging service system has adopted the disability community’s ingrained philosophies of self-direction, person-centered planning, and participant- directed services” (p. 22). This can be considered the best practice approach because many individuals with developmental disabilities may lack control over their personal and professional lives. By using a person centered intervention planning technique the practitioner respects
Basically, contingency theory asserts that when managers make a decision, they must take into account all aspects of the current situation and act on those aspects that are key to the situation at hand. Basically, it’s the approach that “it depends.” For example, the continuing effort to identify the best leadership or management style might now conclude that the best style depends on the situation. If one is leading troops in the Persian Gulf, an autocratic style is probably best (of course, many might argue here, too). If one is leading a hospital or university, a more participative and facilitative leadership style is probably best.
Healthcare facilities can use quality improvement techniques to guide in their decision making. Quality improvement techniques include setting standards, monitoring performance and evaluating outcomes. Once a standard of quality has been identified, using quality improvement techniques to achieve that standard is important for healthcare facilities. Facilities can use quality improvement techniques to guide the facility decisions. The status quo can be discouraged and decisions to accept the challenge of improving can prevail. The challenge that organizations encounter

This article investigates the use of self-management strategy in general education classroom to decrease the disruptive behaviors of students in elementary school that suffer from behavior disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). Through this article, it tells of how a multiple-proven design was used to examine the effects of the intervention in both structured and unstructured settings. The result of self-management intervention led to a decrease in disruptive behavior which was accomplished in the absence of the teacher. Through this study, it is discussed how children who display a high degree of conduct problems and the aggressive behavior of a person with oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) are at a greater risk for later antisocial behavior and psychiatric disorders in adolescents. National governments across the globe, such as China, are beginning to enforce regulations more strictly as medical institutions attempt to avoid being reprimanded by claiming that the therapies they perform are “research,” despite charging the patient a steep price and neglecting to monitor them as one would in a proper clinical trial (Cyranoski, “Stem-Cell Therapy Faces More Scrutiny in China”). As a result, it puts pressure on these unregulated clinics thus discouraging them from continuing to the same magnitude they could in an unregulated market. In the United States, the FDA has even attempted to prevent any activities from companies and individuals that provide unproven stem cell treatments (Cyranoski, “FDA Challenges Stem-Cell Clinic”). However, simply regulating it at the medical level does not diminish the sensationalism that celebrity athletes invoke by undergoing treatments that allow them to return to their sport in a shorter time span than they would with orthodox treatments. This makes it difficult to properly regulate stem cell therapy at the legal level considering that there are still many countries with more lax restriction that patients can seek out if inspired by their actions. To prevent this from happening, some scientific and patient organizations have taken it upon themselves to
