Entering the Chicago Symphony Center my face must have looked completely memorized as I gazed at the design and architecture structure that was before me. The amount of intricate detail that was on the ceilings and trim work must have taken months to complete with a construction army. As I walked through the hall and stepped into the elevator the smell of fresh clean red carpets filled the air with a slight scent of floral. Before I entered the venue a punch size bowl of cough drops was to my left
I decided to attend the Symphony on the Prairie on July24, 2015. I haven’t been to a Symphony Orchestra since I was very young and I was unable to attend the Symphony last Friday or Saturday. My fellow classmates invited me to the concert on July 24, 2015. I wanted to view a concert so I agreed to attend the Symphony with them. I also like Harry Potter and Star Wars; and they played pieces from both movies in the Symphony concert. Unfortunately there wasn’t any vocal throughout the concert but there
I attended the University Symphony Orchestra Concert on Sep 30. Being my first ever symphony orchestra concert, the excitement was at its peak. I learned about the concert before so that I could understand a bit more about what is being played and the history of that piece. Reached UCA before time so that I could find a seat for myself and glance through the program book. When I sat down, there were already musicians on stage who were wearing formal black clothes, some of the musicians started working
When attending the Ball State Symphony Orchestra, I did not know what to expect since this was the first orchestra that I had attended. I did not think that I would be interested in the music that would be played by the orchestra and that I may even want to leave early. When I sat down I noticed that there were more people than I expected, and everyone was mingling. This was until it was time for the performance, and at that time you could have heard a pencil hit the ground. I was curious how all
On November 3rd, 2016 I had a pleasure of attending James Levine’s symphony at Chicago Symphony Orchestra. James Levine is an American pianist and conductor, mainly known for being a music director of the Metropolitan Opera. He suffered many health conditions that have put his conducting aside. At the end of 2015, he left his position as a director to become an emeritus of the Metropolitan Opera. One of the interesting facts about Mr. Levine is that many of the sources do not mention is his disability
Regina Symphony Orchestra’s “Piano Poetry” involved a variety of trios and quartets and one suite that included piano, the flute, an oboe, cello, and violin. The purpose of this concert was to excite the audience for the Regina Symphony Orchestra’s very first piano festival. This performance took place on November 22nd at 2pm, located at the Government house. The players were Cherith Alexander on piano who was a guest appearance, Marie - Noelle Berthelet on the flute, Simon Fryer on the violoncello
The performance that I attended was of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra playing the Overture to The creatures of Prometheus, by Beethoven, the Concerto for Orchestra by Kodaly, and Harold in Italy, by Berlioz. The orchestra was conducted by David Currie, and I think that they played very well overall. The stage was brightly lit from both on stage and the front of house and the musicians were arranged in a semi circle around the podium. The back rows of the strings section were mounted on risers and
The concert performed by the Allen High School Symphony Orchestra, which combines the Chamber and Sinfonia Orchestras, was an amazing concert but was not a flawless one. The pieces all sounded quite wonderful on the outside, but by diving deeper into the music and truly listening to and observing the performance with a sharper eye, there were some problems that appeared in a couple different areas, and those problems came mainly from three distinct areas: tone, technique, and musicianship. First
Baltimore Symphony Orchestra: Founded in 1916, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is the only major American orchestra originally established as a branch of the municipal government. It was later reorganized as a private institution in 1942. The orchestra’s primary venue is the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, with the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda as a secondary; making it the nation’s first orchestra with year-round venues in two metropolitan areas. The ensemble performs more than 130 concerts
16) The Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Ondrej Lenard. They will be preforming composers Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, Op. 67: He Tells the Bird to Distract the Wolf. 00:00 The bird, flute, starts off with a high pitch and a quick tempo. 00:02 Sounds like something falling, like the bird swooping down, there is also a little decrescendo. 00:06 The flute comes in again. 00:10 The dynamic becomes a little bit louder then it was before. 00:22 There is a high but soft pitch
