“The things you are passionate about are not random; they are your calling.” Finding your calling can be a lifelong journey. I was fortunate enough to find mine at eighteen. My dream is to one day have my own makeup line and this will be made possible by attaining a degree in chemistry from the University of St. Thomas. I plan to participate in studying abroad programs and summer research to gain a deeper understanding of chemistry, and to do this at the school I know deep down in my heart is where
For as long as I can remember, I have always strived for excellence. I enjoyed being independent, and rarely for help. I preferred to figure out things by myself, rather than to rely on others. Growing up in a sheltered household, my parents did not enforce strict rules and expectations; in fact, they did the opposite. Since my brother struggled in school, my parents were happy to see that I did not ask for the help. They were fine with any grade I got, as long as I passed. However, as my life
When I first started attending Orange Coast College, I did not go there thinking I was going to transfer to a four year college. I thought I would go and just get an Associate’s degree in Film/Video. It was not until I communicated with one of my professors, who worked in the field of film and television told me that I should definitely further my education and earn a Bachelor’s of arts degree. My professor said that the job opportunities would be much better if I had that degree under my belt.
A major in University Studies offered to me by the College of Architecture would not only give me the ability to thrive in my future but also give me the capacity to mold my skills towards my ideal career path. My plan is to major primarily on graphic design. The overall concentration of architecture would assist me in my focus of design. The College of Architecture offers a rigorous curriculum that would not only allow me to set high goals but would also set me up for success in my career. A minor
me and told me to never give up, no matter what. I live by my sister’s words, not to mention I would love to make my wife, mother, children and grandchild proud of me and maybe I can be an influence to someone else. This is my first time attending college, I obtained my GED in 1990 and have not been back to school ever since, better late than never. Even though I feel overwhelmed, I am
For me, this is not really complicated. Currently in my undergraduate career, I am dealing with the balance between a social life and academic life. However, I quickly realize that my academics come first. As a college student, I will always be put in a situation where I have to choose between academics and a healthy social life. When it comes to my social life, if I am comfortable with the amount of work I’ve put in for the day, I will release some stress with a social activity. if I feel I need
First, I consider my academic background to be indicative that I am a strong candidate for this internship program. I have taken many difficult classes at Macalester, including Organic Chemistry and various biology courses, and yet have maintained almost a 4.0 GPA. However, I realize that grades are not the only mark of whether one is prepared for a research program; I also have a passion for biology and desire to learn that further strengthens my case. Although I am a Biology major, considering
I am interested in attending UNC Wilmington for one reason being a program that is offered that I am planning to study which is sports medicine and this leads me into more medical programs that I am interested in for the future. The location of UNCW is in the town I live in and so it is by the beach which are factors that I keep in mind. Growing up in Wilmington has given me the chance to participate in the Little Seahawks Program as a kid, attend many basketball camps and volunteer or play in the
My father was a bit like my high school physics teacher for the fact that he also pushed me to pursue an engineering degree. But which one exactly was left open for me to decide. What do I want to do? Which major would provide the most useful knowledge in chasing my dreams? When I received the acceptance letter from UW, I was unsure as to which major I should set my sights on. But whatever decision I made, I thought, it must be applicable in a field where I would enjoy staying for rest of my life
If you are looking for a person with a strong interest and aspirations for higher studies and research then I believe I have the necessary motivation, attitude and orientation to join your University as a graduate student. Computer and communication in general and in particular had always fascinated me when I was a child. The fascination is still there, only it has been intensified tremendously. From the very start it was clear for me that I should become a Telecom Engineer. It's like the things
