Let us assume you are a policymaker. Which type of 'scenario' would you prefer in order to stimulate as many new business opportunities as possible out of the initial support provided to a national champion firm?
I feel that the strongest moral consideration in favor of capitalism would be the freedom to pursue a business for private ownership or have private ownership of your own business by building it from the ground up. If you want to start your own business, you can do that. If you are interested in a specific job, you can figure out a plan to get yourself educated in that field, prove your worth through applying and interviewing, and you can eventually find yourself in that dream position through persistence and hard work. At the end of the day, it all depends on what you want to do. All of the pressure is on you to create the future you ideally want through the choices you make in the current market. I feel the strongest objection to capitalism is oftentimes the large majority of the profits go to the higher-up executives in many large companies. With the freedom of conducting business, upper management has the ability to control wages the way they feel necessary, which means the…
After World War II, the United States was the world’s dominant economic power. We’re still the largest economy, but the rest of the world has caught up significantly. In some areas, we’ve lost the lead. The production of consumer electronic equipment, for example, is largely done in the Far East. Is this trend good or bad for Americans? Explain.

What do you see as the strongest objection to it? How capitalist is our economic system today? What do you see as the major economic challenges facing our society today and, in particular, your generation?arrow_forwardMy strongest moral consideration in favor of capitalism is freedom. You have a freedom of pursuing whatever career or business you want to. You also have the freedom to pursue that career in any path you want. Obviously, some paths are easier and straighter that others, but you can do what you want and work up the corporate ladder to the top. People are age don't really know what they want to do with their lives, but they still pursue degrees and go through the work to possible pursue a job they don't even want to do. That is the freedom that is favorable. In the movie, The Wolf of Wall Street, the main character starts his own firm to run stock. Although what he did was illegal, he had the freedom to start his own business and pursue it the way he wanted. My objection to that is the way businesses are run. Like in the movie, the main character scammed a lot of people and got rich from it. And in that movie, many other stockbrokers worked for him and helped him make millions scamming…arrow_forward
- Unrest and economic underperformance haunt the emerging worldAt the start of the century, developing economies were a source of unbounded optimism and fierce ambition. - Managers wonder what a political map of the world might look like in the next decade. Will democracy regain its intellectual and practical appeal? Will totalitarianism gain more ground? Will new ideologies arise? It is tempting to regard these questions as academic straw men, best left to the folks in ivory towers to wonder about. The latest data indicate they are anything but. As faltering political freedom and resurgent authoritarianism accelerate democracy’s retreat, countries reset marketplaces and MNEs adjust strategies. Trends highlight the contemporary political ideologies competing for supremacy—namely, the Washington Consensus vs. the Beijing Consensus. Understandably, each endorses different perspectives on the matters of freedom, property, ideology, and rights.
