Calculation:

According to question −

Quinn and Kyle collected 87 aluminum cans to recycle.

Quinn collected twice as many cans as Kyle.

Let cans collected by Kyle = x

So cans collected by Quinn = 2x

Total cans collected by both $=x+2x=3x$

As given total cans collected $=87$

  $\begin{array}{c}3x=87\\ x=\frac{87}{3}\\ x=29\end{array}$

So Cans collected by Kyle $x=29cans$

Cans collected by Quinn $2x=2(29)=58cans$
