Interpretation: The following problem can be solved by the concept of ionic equilibrium.
Concept introduction: Chloride ion is anionic in nature which is present in all the bodily fluids and is responsible for sustaining the acid/base equilibrium, conveying nerve impulse and controlling the fluids movement in and out of the cells. It isa crucial electrolyte moving through the cells via chloride channels, thus playing a vital role in maintaining the cellular homeostasis.
Given: It is given that Amanda’s blood contains 0.45 g/dL of chloride. We are asked to find out this value in milliequivalent per liter. We also need to find out whether this value is above, below, or within the normal range.
