The force on bicep is 943N and force of the dumbbell is 89N. The force on the bicep is nearly 11 times the force of dumbbell and it is due to the torque exerted on the hand.

Given:

The weight of the dumbbell is w1=20lb.

Formula used:

The relation between the mass and weight of forearm is,

  w=mg

The relation between the force and the weight of the bicep using the second condition of equilibrium in which the net torque is zero is,

The weight of the forearm is calculated as,

Solve further,

  FB=943.25N943N

The force on dumbbell is calculated as,

  w2=(20lb× 4.448N 1lb)=88.96N89N

Compare the force of the dumbbell with the force on the bicep.
