A large man pushes against a horizontal panel connected to a spring. The spring has a spring constant of 400 N/m. If he compresses the spring 3 m, how much force is he exerting?
You are using a modified block and tackle pulley system to lift a concrete block. You need to lift the concrete block (mass = 200 kg) a distance of 5 meters upward. The system is designed to reduce the force load of 4. How much rope must you pull down on the other side of the pulley to lift the block the proper distance?
Hint: There is a very simple way to solve this if you remember that work in = work out.
