The two pelvic bones, often known as hip bones, make up the pelvic girdle. At a junction termed the pubic symphysis, the hip bones connect anteriorly. The sacroiliac joints are where they attach the sacrum posteriorly. The bony pelvis refers to the whole basin-like structure that is made up of the hip bones, pubic symphysis, sacrum, and coccyx.
