Concept explainers
For the following computer problems, any appropriate software may be used. Input prompts should fully explain what is required of the user (the program should be user-friendly). The resulting output should be well labeled and self-explanatory. For spreadsheet problems, any appropriate software may be used.
7.16 Write a program that will calculate the location of the centroid of a semicircle (measured from the daimeter line). This may be accomplished by dividing the area into slices of uniform width, either parallel or perpendicular to the diameter, and applying Equation (7.4). User input is to be the radius and width of the slice. Check the result with that obtained from Table 2. Note how the accuracy varies with the choice of the slice width.

The y coordinate of the centroid is y in. ||arrow_forwardLearning Goal: A centroid is an object's geometric center. For an object of uniform composition, its centroid is also its center of mass. Often the centroid of a complex composite body is found by, first, cutting the body into regular shaped segments, and then by calculating the weighted average of the segments' centroids. An object is made from a uniform piece of sheet metal. The object has dimensions of a = 1.45 ft, where a is the diameter of the semi-circle, b = 3.24 ft, and c = 2.10 ft. A hole with diameter d = 0.500 ft is centered at (1.13, 0.725).
