Concept explainers
(a)
Interpretation: The balanced
Concept Interpretation: A chemical reaction is said to be balanced if it has same number of constituent atoms on both side of the reaction arrow.
(b)
Interpretation: The type of chemical reaction should be identified.
Concept Interpretation: Types of chemical reaction:
Combination reaction: Here two or more reactants combines to form a single product
Decomposition product: In this type of reaction, one reactant is breakdown into two or more products
Single replacement reaction: This is a type of reaction where more reactive element replaces the less reactive element.
Double-replacement reaction: In this type of reaction, two compounds react in such a way that cations and anions of two reactants interchange their place.
Combustion: Process of heating a substance in presence of Oxygen is known as combustion reaction. Heating of hydrocarbon in presence of Oxygen molecule will always formed carbon dioxide and water as products.
(c)
Interpretation: Number of moles of oxygen gas should be calculated.
Concept Interpretation: From the balanced chemical reaction, the ratio of number of moles can be calculated and thus, number of moles of any species from any other species can be calculated using the unitary method.
(d)
Interpretation: The mass of
Concept Interpretation: The relation between number of moles and mass of any substance is as follows:
Here, m is mass in grams and M is molar mass is g/mol.
(e)
Interpretation: The mass of
Concept Interpretation: The relation between number of moles and mass of any substance is as follows:
Here, m is mass in grams and M is molar mass is g/mol.
