We use the terms sunset and sunrise. In what way are these terms misleading?
Why the terms sunset and sunrise is misleading.
Answer to Problem 1PQ
The terms sunset and sunrise are misleading because they support the geocentric model which is wrong.
Explanation of Solution
It is said that the sun rises in east and sets in the west. This conventional truth gives us an impression that the sun moves from east to west or along earth and this is wrong.
Geocentric model says that the sun revolves around the earth which is at the center. But this model is proved to be wrong. The heliocentric model is correct. Heliocentric model says that sun is at the center and the planets are revolving around it.
Since the terms support geocentric model, these terms are said to be misleading.
Conclusion
Therefore, the terms sunset and sunrise are misleading because they support the geocentric model which is proved wrong.
