It is classified into different types based on the structure namely coccus (spherical shaped), Bacillus (rod-shaped), filamentous, spirilla (spiral-shaped), appendaged and pleomorphic bacteria. The structure of the bacteria can be viewed under the microscope by using the staining methods.
