Concept Introduction:

In case of isothermal flow of a compressible fluid inside a conduit, the temperature of fluid is constant due to the heat transfer between fluids and ambient through the pipe wall. In such cases, the governing equation is obtained by introducing the mass velocity term in to the mechanical energy equation of the dynamic fluid. Then using the trial-and-error method pressure drop can be guessed. However, if pressure has no effect on the viscosity within the pipeline then keeping the flow parameters as constant, the inlet or outlet pressure can be easily guessed.
