Introduction:

Restriction enzymes or restriction endonucleases (REs) are enzymes that cut double-stranded DNA at specific nucleotide sequences. Bacterial own DNA gets protected from the REs, produced by the bacterium. Restriction enzymes generate three types of DNA ends, named as blunt ends, frayed ends, and sticky ends. DNA ligases join molecules of DNA by making phosphodiester bonds between two nucleotides.
