Chapter 6, Problem 23RQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
Definition of the following terms:
(a) Oxygenase
(b) Epimerase
(c) Protease
(d) Hydroxylase
(e) Oxidase
Introduction:
The proteins perform a wide range of functions in the living organisms. One such function is the catalysis. Proteins that carry the catalysis of reactions in biological cells (biochemical reactions) are called enzymes. All enzymesend with the suffix -ase. Every enzyme performs a different function, ranging from adding oxygen, to performing hydroxylation and oxidation.
