Question
Chapter 58, Problem 7U
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
The process of transmission of heavy metal or pesticides in greater concentration through the chain is referred as biological magnification. The example of biological magnification, to control the growth of mosquitoes DDT (dichloro diphenyl trichloroethane) pesticide was used. The little amount of this pesticide enters into aquatic systems. The microscopic community like plankton consume these little amounts of DDT, which then passes to fish that feeds plankton and then to higher levels of the ecosystem through the food chain.
