Just make the linear programming model of the next exercise:
The maximum profit must be obtained in the manufacture of two products: pants and T-shirts. The first brings a profit of $325 and the second $185 per unit. Each product must go through two processes: manufacturing and finishing. The pants take 2 hours to manufacture and 1 hour to finish, while the shirts require 1.5 hours to manufacture and 3 hours to finish. Each department has 180 and 200 hours respectively
Instruction: Formulate the following problem as a linear program and solve using simplex method. Cit Chemical Chorporation must produce exactly 1,000 kilograms of a special mixture of Chemical A and Chemical B for a customer. Chemical A costs PhP125 per kilogram and Chemical B costs PhP150 per kilogram. No more than 300 kgs of Chemical A can be used, and at least 150 kgs of Chemical B must be used. The problem is to determine the least-cost blend of the two ingredients.

- Fill in the blanks. Ordered pairs that satisfy the constraints of a linear program are called _________ solutions.arrow_forwardBiology Each day, an average adult moose can process about 32 kilograms of terrestrial vegetation (twigs and leaves) and aquatic vegetation. From this food, it needs to obtain about 1.9 grams of sodium and 11,000 calories of energy. Aquatic vegetation has about 0.15 gram of sodium per kilogram and about 193 calories of energy per kilogram, whereas terrestrial vegetation has minimal sodium and about four times as much energy as aquatic vegetation. Write and graph a system of inequalities that describes the amounts t and a of terrestrial and aquatic vegetation, respectively, for the daily diet of an average adult moose.arrow_forwardShipping A warehouse supervisor has instructions to ship at least 50 bags of gravel that weigh 55 pounds each and at least 40 bags of stone that weigh 70 pounds each. The maximum weight capacity of the truck being used is 7500 pounds. (a) Write and graph a system that describes the numbers of bags of stone and gravel that can be shipped. (b) Find two solutions of the system and interpret their meanings in the context of the problem.arrow_forward
- A trailer can carry a maximum weight of 160 pounds and a maximum volume of 15 cubic feet. A microwave oven weighs 30 pounds and has 2 cubic feet of volume, while a printer weighs 20 pounds and has 3 cubic feet of space. (a) Write a system of inequalities to model this situation. (b) Graph the system. (c) Could 4 microwaves and 2 printers be carried on this trailer? (d) Could 7 microwaves and 3 printers be carried on this trailer?arrow_forwardJenny's Bakery makes two types of birthday cakes: yellow cake, which sells for $25, and strawberry cake, which sells for $35. Both cakes are the same size, but the decorating and assembly time required for the yellow cake is 2 hours, while the time is 3 hours for the strawberry cake. There are 450 hours of labor available for production. How many of each type of cake should be made to maximize revenue? using linear programming. - Julie works no more than 40 hours per week during the school year. She is paid $16 an hour for mentoring students and $14 an hour for tutoring elementary students. She is paid $12 an hour as a personal grocery shopper. She wants to spend at least 10 hours but no more than 15 hours mentoring students. She also wants to spend 8 hours but no more than 12 hours as a personal grocery shopper. Find Julie’s maximum weekly earnings. The refinery can produce at most 30,000 Liters a day, but must produce at least two liters diesel for every liter of gasoline. At least 12,000 Liters of gasoline must be produce each day to meet current demands. How much of each type of fuel should be produced to maximize daily profits? Solution: Decision Variables: Let x = no. of liters of gasoline to be produced daily And y = no. of diesel of diesel to be produced daily 2. Objective Function: 3. She has found that a political interview takes 45 min and a market interview takes 55 min. She needs to minimize the time she spends doing interviews to allow more time for her full-time job. Unfortunately, to keep her part-time job, she must complete at least 8 interviews each week. Also, she must earn at least $60 per week at this job; she earns $8 for each political interview and $10 for each market interview. Finally, to stay in good standing with her supervisor, she must earn at least 40 bonus points per week; she receives 6 bonus points for each political interview and 5 points for each market interview.
