Explanation of Solution

Five different addressing modes supported by RISC machines:

• Addressing modes refers to the way instructions specify the addresses of the operands in the memory.
• The various addressing modes as follows.
• 1. ○ Register.
  2. ○ Immediate.
  3. ○ Displacement.
  4. ○ Register indirect.
  5. ○ Indexed mode

Register:

• Register specifies the register in which the operands are stored.
• Example: $\text{R1}\leftarrow \text{R1+R2}$.
• In the above example the operands are obtained from the registers R1 and R2.
• Then the addition operation is performed and the result is stored in the R1 register.

Immediate:

• Operands can be accessed directly.
• Example: $\text{R1}\leftarrow \text{R1+10}$.
• In the above example the value of R1 is directly added to the operand 10 and the result is stored in register R1
