Explanation of Solution
A food chain represents a linear stepwise chain of energy transfer from one organism to another. An organism does not rely on a single species for feeding and similarly, an organism can be a prey of multiple heterotrophs. So, there is an interlinking of different food chains and this interlinked representation of the food chain looks like a web, that is why it is known as a food web.
So, in easier words, a food web is a representation of the natural interconnection of different food chains together showing what is eaten by which organism in an ecological community.
