Concept Introduction: The stereoisomerism is the arrangement of atoms in molecules whose connectivity remains the same but their arrangement in different in each isomer.

The chiral molecules are non-superimposable on its mirror images. The presence of an asymmetric carbon center is one of several structural features that induce chirality in organic molecules.

Diastereomerism occurs when two or more stereoisomers of a compound have different configurations at one or more of the equivalent stereo centers and are not mirror images of each other.

The two molecules can also have mirror images that cannot be superimposed on each other. These molecules are called enantiomers.
