Consider the diode circuit shown in the figure. The current i_D, and the voltage v_Dcan be determined from the solution of the following system of equations:

$i_D=I_0\left(\frac{q{v}_D}{ekT}-1\right)$ , $i_D=\frac{v_s-v_D}{R}$

The system can be solved numerically or graphically. The graphical solution is found by plotting as a function of v_Dfrom both equations. The solution is the intersection of the two curves.

Make the plots and estimate the solution for the case where I₀=10-¹⁴A,

v_s=1.5 V, R= 1200O, and $\frac{kT}{q}$ =30mV.
