Natural environment plays a very essential role in the economy. It provides various resources that aids in achieving sustainable living. The environment possess many biotic and abiotic resources that help the economy.
Key contributions that the natural environment makes to our economies are:
(1) Natural resources sustain our society and our everyday lives: the fresh water the person drinks, the trees that provide lumber, the rock that provide metals and the energy from sun, wind, water and air. All these are produced by nature.
(2). Environmental systems also naturally function in a manner that supports our economies. Earth’s ecosystem purifies air and water, form soil, cycle nutrients, regulate climate, help in pollination and recycle waste. Such essential ecosystem service supports the very life that makes our economic activity possible
