Chapter 5, Problem 13RQ
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
The central nervous system (CNS) controls the functions of the heart. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is the control system that unconsciously regulates functions such as heart rate, respiratory rate, digestion, and pupillary constriction/relaxation. The neurons from the medulla that innervate through the autonomic nervous system regulate the impulses of the heart. Medulla, therefore, has a cardio-acceleratory portion and a cardio-inhibitory portion.
