Concept explainers
The high risk of visual and hearing impairment occurs in the children and infants are due to a number of the genetic, postnatal, and prenatal condition. In the case of visual impairment, the pupil’s ability to balance to light diminishes, thus older adults are usually very sensitive to glare. The glare is minimized by suggesting using amber or yellow lenses and shades or blinds on windows. Other interventions to increase vision of the patients with the visual impairment include colors with sharp contrast and intensity and warm incandescent lighting. The other common visual changes related with the aging include increased glare sensitivity, impaired vision, reduced color discrimination, reduced depth perception and reduced visual fields.
