Introduction:

Earthworm is one of the most common annelids that we come across. It is a deposit feeder and shows extracellular digestive system consisting of a digestive tract along with the digestive organs. The digestive tract is a specialized tube in which the digestive contents move in one direction from the mouth to the anus. The esophagus, crop, gizzard, and intestine are the common digestive organs found in Annelids, such as the earthworm, insects, such as grasshopper, and birds, such as pigeon (refer Figure 47.4 (A), (B), and (C)).
