Chapter 46.1, Problem 2CYL
Summary Introduction
To describe:
The major site of synthesis for each hormone and examples of the hormone’s important actions.
Introduction:
The plant hormones also called as phytohormones are chemical substances secreted by specific cells that regulate the growth of plants. Various plant hormones influence many aspects of the life cycle of the plant. There are six important types of plant hormones named as auxin, gibberellin, cytokinin, abscisic acid, florigen, and ethylene.

Describe the chemical composition of the three major hormone groups and the mechanisms of hormone action.
For each hormone pair below, explain how the two hormones are related. If they are antagonistic, explain the specific opposing functions.
A) Calcitonin and Parathyroid hormone
B) Oxytocin and Prolactin
C) Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) and Thyroxine (T4)
Identify the shortest peptide hormone and explain its function.
