Sleep can be divided into two kinds that are REM (rapid eye movement) sleep and non-REM (NREM) sleep. In people, REM sleep causes dreaming, this kind of sleep is psychologically active. Whereas, NREM sleep ranges from a lighter stage to greatly deeper, it is a most restful type of sleep.

Sleepwalking, nightmare, and being unable to sleep are examples of sleep disorders. Sleepwalking or somnambulism is a type of sleep disorder that occurs due to heredity. Affected people with this disorder may sit and walk while being asleep in this disorder.
