Concept explainers
A.
To identify: The types of cells present in the connective tissue proper.
Introduction: Connective tissues are diverse in distribution. These tissues are responsible for providing structural support to the layer and also for storing energy. Connective tissue proper includes different types of cells and extracellular fibres suspended in the syrupy ground substance. The fibres present may be either loose or dense.
B.
To describe: The role of fibroblasts in the connective tissue.
Introduction: The term “tissue” is derived from the French word “tissu”, which means something that is “woven”. Tissues are the characteristic feature of both plants and animals. In humans, there exist trillions of cells. The cells that perform similar functions and have similar properties are grouped together to form tissues.
