To determine: The process of how oral agents prevent ovulation and pregnancy.
Introduction: The menstruation is a periodic cycle during which the endometrium of the uterus sheds off along with the unfertilized egg and blood. There are four phases of the menstrual cycle: menstruation, follicular cycle, Ovulatory cycle and luteal period.
Explanation of Solution
The ovulation is the process during which a mature egg is released from an ovary. The increased levels of estrogen signal the pituitary gland to release LH hormone, which stimulates the process of release of a mature egg. Birth pills or oral contraceptives are consumed to prevent pregnancy.
The pill contains a mixture of estrogen and progastrin, which prevent the release of LH hormone and FSH hormone from the pituitary gland. The progestin inhibits the ovulation.
