Explanation of Solution

Purpose of the ACTION table of an LR parser:

LR parser is a table driven parser and the table has two components- ACTION table and GOTO table.

• As the name specifies, ACTION part specifies the actions required to taken by the parser. It specifies what a parser should do.
• Rows of the ACTION table are labeled with states and columns are labeled with terminal symbols in the grammar.
• The main actions specified in the table are Shift or Reduce. That is, either the parser can shift the next input symbol to the stack or it can reduce the handle on the top of the stack to its corresponding LHS...
