Introduction: Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid that is required for the growth and development of an individual. During pregnancy, DHA promotes improved cognitive and neural development of the growing infant. Therefore, pregnant women are recommended to maintain an adequate intake of omega-3 fatty acids which can be acquired from foods such as seafood, DHA-fortified eggs, milk, and other food fortified with DHA.
