Summary Introduction
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD), caused by Treponema pallidum, a spirochete. If untreated, this disease may cause potential severe consequences. In the last several years the incidence of syphilis has increased. In the incident of syphilis, visible symptoms, such as chancre lesion formation, develop in diseased individuals. In addition, fear about the life-threatening consequences of untreated infections was high.
