Concept introduction:

During the continental drift, different land pieces or isolated continents moved relative to each other through slow drifting. When two different continents get detached from single land mass they show resemblances in species as the species present on these continents come in contact and compete for the resources with others. The distributions of species show similarities in nearby continents as they originate when the continents join.
