To determine: The reason for the fact that antibiotics fail to produce any significant effect against the viral infections.
Introduction: Mostly bacteria or virus cause human infections. The virus enters the human body through contaminated food, close contact with an infected person, and other similar routes. Antibiotics are medicines that fight against infections.
Explanation of Solution
Antibiotics are effective against bacterial infections, but will not have any effect on viral infections. Antibiotics fight against the bacterial infection by either keeping them from reproduction or destroying them.
Viruses are microscopic organisms that cannot replicate without the host. Viruses cannot do anything until they enter a host cell and are considered as technically not alive. Antibiotics cannot fight against the virus in the same way they fight against bacteria. Hence, antibiotics do not produce any significant effect against viral infections.
To determine: The advice that can be given to an entry-level high school student and a third-grade student to fight against the viral infection and to recover quickly.
Introduction: Viruses cause infectious diseases such as flu, warts, Ebola, smallpox, and HIV/AIDS. Viruses can be transmitted to humans through contaminated food, close contact with an infected person, and other similar routes.
Explanation of Solution
The following are the advice that can be given to an entry-level high school student to fight against the viral infection and to recover quickly:
- • Antiviral medicines can reduce the symptoms of viral infection and also inhibit the spread of the viruses.
- • Vaccines can reduce the risk of viral infection by inducing the production of antibodies against specific viruses. Antibodies are the most critical part of the immune system as they neutralize the pathogens such as pathogenic viruses and bacteria.
The following are the advice that can be given to the third-grade student to fight against the viral infection and to recover quickly:
- • The antiviral medicines can be used to prevent the growth of viruses in the body and also to help the people to get over the viral infection faster.
- • There are vaccines also that can be used to increase the production of antibodies. Antibodies attach to specific viruses and keep them from attaching to the cells in the body.

- Discuss the importance of vaccination and management of secondary infections during an outbreak of a viral infection (in general). ( here students are expected to provide reason as to why vaccination considered important in managing any viral outbreak and should also outline the importance of managing secondary infections with a virus. This should be derived from the dangers that secondary infections pose to patients suffering ) In a point formarrow_forwardb. This patient is at risk for infection because of his low white blood cell count. 64-year-old African American male visits his primary care physician with complaints of bone pain, fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, and constipation. The patient has a history of good health and exercises regularly. However, his recent symptoms have started to interfere with his active lifestyle. After a physical examination, his physician orders laboratory analysis to identify what might be causing his symptoms.
